I have sent an e-mail to hauppauge, but maybe someone here can help me with this - I bought a PVR-150 today, which I was going to use for free-to-air channel recording, while my existing 250 was dedicated to the cable line-in.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to tune any channels in with the 150. After removing the 250, and doing complete uninstalls and reinstalls, I suspect the problem lies with the hauppauge "tuner format" setting - in the WinTV ap, I can't tune in any channels either, as it steadfastly maintains that the format is "MN", with no options for argument.

As I specifically bought the PVR150 in NZ at double the US price in order to have the PAL abilities, this seems a trifle unfair. Checking both the physical label on the card and using prodinfo confirms that the card does in fact have "Tuner Formats: (B/G/I/D/K/L/L')".

I tried the shspvr multi-format registry hack, but all that does is let me change the video to PAL B (admittedly an improvement, as while it was set to M or N, the composite line-in didn't work properly either, but now does).

So - anyone know how to convince the hauppauge registry settings that the card is in fact PAL-B capable? (And yes - I have completely uninstalled several times, using hcwclear.exe each time, and in fact manually going through the registry and deleting all hcw and hauppauge references last time, to no effect, on both the CD-drivers and the latest web ones).

cheers,

Well, I have actually finally got it going (almost) - uninstalling all programs, using two different hcw-clear programs and a thorough manual registry check, followed by a restart and another round of clearances before restarting again, installing entirely from the CD-ROM (no web updates for me!) resulted in a PVR-150 card that could see PAL-B channels.

Of course WinTV could still not tune in, but GB-PVR's tuning assistant sorted out channel numbers, so that's right.

The only problem is that now that I have reinstalled the PVR-250-MCE card, WinTV (which can apparently only recognise one card at a time ?!) has associated itself to that, which means that the IR remote on the 150 board doesn't work, as WinTV doesn't know that the board exists.

GB-PVR also has the 150 as the second capture device - is there any simple way to change the capture device order (preferably without swapping the boards around - I don't think I could face another install). The 150 has a lower IRQ, than the 250, so I would have assumed it would be the preferred card - obviously this is not the case.

Any ideas?

i had the same problem with the remote when i added a pvr-150 to my allready installed an configured pvr-350.

in my case i just downloaded and installed the newest ir-control app from hauppauge (http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/software/..._22350.exe) and this problem was resolved...
AMD 1600mHz, 512 M RAM, 20+160 GB drive, Hauppauge PVR-350 + PVR-150 + PVR-150MCE, Win XP Pro SP3, using software decoding.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

I'm assuming you mean the order they are listed in on the Cap. Sources page in Config? In that case, they stay in the order you manually added them - GB-PVR doesn't sort them in anyway.

It is possible to adjust the order but it means hacking the gbpvr.mdb. I would do this by adding a third capture source for a 250 device and set it up with EXACTLY the same settings as the first 250 (including device #).

Stop the recording service, open gbpvr.mdb in Access.

Open the CAPTURE_SOuRCE table and make a note of the oid of the original PVR250 source and also of the new PVR250 source.

Close that table then open the RECORDING_SCHEDULE table. In the capture_source column, change any reference to the original PVR250 oid to be that of the new oid.

Close Access. Start Config.exe and delete the original PVR250 source.

In saying that, I think sub mentioned that in the latest version, deleting a capture source no longer losses the entries in the MDB for shows previously recorded on that card so it may be possible to simply add the third source then delete the first without having to edit the MDB. I haven't tried this yet though.

Oh, and as ever, make sure you take a backup copy of the MDB before twiddling around with it. Smile

Cheers,
Brian

I wouldnt rely on that for a couple of days until I get a patch out. I've found a bug in that area.
