Ok, so I feel like i'm a nerd! Back in the day, I used to ask, why would anyone want a camera on their phone, and now that's standard... so here's my wish

What about a skype / tele-conference (i.e. use webcam) capabilities through gbpvr. It runs through my tv, so it's nice nad big, and it would be great to set up my webcam and be able to chat with my family just through the tv and through gbpvr... i saw something similar with meedio:

If you want to know why nPVR is the bomb, ask my wife!

First we would have to check skype for a sdk. If they do not have one we probably should email the author of the plugin and ask if he is willing to share the code for a port.

skype doesnt do video chat thou, i would rather this be done with a better program with more features. eg a land line answer machine and a ip answer machine (i think skype only does ip). and video chat is a must, its just so cool.

Wasn't there a Skype Plugin? Didn't it do some of the things you're asking for?

In response to Google-Talk, I see that Skype have released their APIs (link to story)...

http://www.internetnews.com/dev-news/art...hp/3529771

Would this help? Also, I understand that Skype are to release a public beta for video.

Maybe one day I'll get my wish for a skype video plugin that would work over MVP? That would be soooo cool.

The problem with over the MVP (on my wish list too) is that the mvp can not play wavs but only mp3. So there would be a transcoding delay.

There is no C# skype client library. However there is a COM interface that would work.

It looks like there is enough information in there to get one going. This is probably quite a large development effort for any individual plugin developer. But if several were interested we could do a collaborative effort. Probably the best starting point would be reven (he was working on a MSN Messenger plugin) perhaps that already has some of the structure.

reven is correct there is currently not any video support which does suck. However they are planning on introducing it.

reven,
do you know of any better app?

I was looking at http://www.codeguru.com/Cpp/G-M/multimed...php/c7621/
as well. It is not anything like skype but is able to send video and audio from client to peer. in case we wanted to roll our own solution. The code is there in C++ we would have to bundle it in managed classes.
