With the new Fall TV season starting up, I sprung for a PVR500MCE for my existing GBPVR system that already had a PVR150MCE. I'm running WinXP SP2, and as of yesterday using the latest drivers from shspvr.com. Everything is now up and appears to be working. Had some initial problems with an object not found type of error after installing the PVR500 card and just using the Hauppauge PVR150 drivers for it, but removing everything Hauppauge and then reinstalling the shspvr.com drivers put everything to working state.
Anyway...having three tuners now is getting a little confusing at times, so questions:
1. Why does GBPVR always seem to choose the PVR150 card for LiveTV? Part of troubleshooting my original install problems caused me to remove the PVR150 from GPBVR, and then after I installed the PVR500 and got everything working, I installed the PVR150 as device #3. The PVR150 was used for LiveTV when it was device #1 and now as device #3. Both the PVR500 tuners are available, but it always chooses the PVR150. For recording, GBPVR just goes right down the device list (as long as they're available).
2. Does the Hauppauge tweak tool (the PVR150/500 settings) affect all three cards? Is there any way to isolate which card I'm modifying with the tweak tool? I'm sure the two PVR500 tuners are basically identical, but I'm sure there are differences between the PVR500 tuners and the PVR150 -- I'd like to be able to modify the brightness, contrast, etc., separately.
3. Anyone else running this tuner card configuration as well? Anyone been running it successfully for a long time who could maybe provide some advice on tweaking the video quality? I have plenty of hard drive space, so for me the higher quality the better. Also, please feel free to comment if there is a law of deminishing returns here. I'm mainly playing back my recordings on my big screen TV via MediaMVP, but I also sometimes watch shows just on my computer monitor.
4. I know I had more questions, but they've fluttered out of my head again. I'll add them as I think of them.
Thanks for any info anyone can provide. I'm loving having three tuners, and of course getting three tuners on two different cards installed and working caused me to learn a little more about GBPVR. I even figured out my own driver problem from reading the logs...I know...can you believe it? Someone other than Sub actually reads the logs? Haha.
