I get this once in a while: the image freezes (no noticable trigger), but the sound continues. No way to stop w/o restarting GB.

I'm hoping it was the MS mux I was trying. I went back to Intervideo.

Nothing shows in the logs, but I'm only set to error. I'm just looking for common experience or insight if there is any.

Nope...did it again. I think it was yet another botched attempt to get the nVidia Purevideo HW decoding to work gone horribly, horribly wrong.

capone,

Can you describe it a little more. Are you doing anything when that happens? Channel Changing e.g.?
Does it continue recording, if in livepreview over MVP? I have (had) a situation sometimes where the image hangs on the MVP, but the Green Recording icon shows it keeps on recording and I have to restart the service.

It was the decoder. I've been trying off/on to get the HW decoding to work w/ the newer nVidia decoders (I have a nVidia card). It saves a lot of proc power, but never likes to play.

In this case, it couldn't be more ordinary circumstances....just plain ol' viewing. It was why I didn't have a long list of suspects to consider. Where GB was obvious not involved (sound going, recording), it made sense it was decoders.

I seem to be getting a similar thing very regularly (100%) when playing back recorded video. The image freezes and the audio continues. This seems to happen at the same point every time but on a number of different videos.

I am using cyberlink power DVD MUX for recording and renderer for playback. But if I use cyberlink directly (without GBPVR_ I don't have any problems. (Obviously defeats the point)

It's got me stumped.

Try changing to Intervideo if you can, or nVidia (only a problem w/ HW accel for me).

I find Intervideo and 'system default' both stutter on video but are smooth on audio.

I am only using an FX5200 video card but standard definition isn't that demanding. As I say, out of GBPVR - Cyberlink and Intervideo work fine.

I am pulling the video across a 100mbps LAN from a mapped drive which may carry a little overhead - but again, out of GBPVR no probs.

CPU is a 2.5MHz Celeron. this computer is set up for playback only with minimum hardware software installed and dosen't even have a tuner card.

I love this program, just need to get it all working happily!

MVP over 54G Wireless Lan.

Other folks think it's not a problem with these specs :-)

So why might I stu... stu... stutter or freezz............ze?

I might try updating from Cyberlink 5 to 6 which I just got. But I suspect the problem might be in the interface between PVR and 3rd party renderer.

Any other ideas anyone? Please??

Just an update for anyone else as silly as me.Rolleyes

I had it the wrong way around - Cyberlink stuttered. Intervideo froze.

Turns out that the version of Intervideo winDVD I had was a web download with a 5 munute playback limit. While I had registered it, the limit somehow remained. Because audio was using other decoders the sound continued to play.

Don't really understand why the limit only applied through GBPVR not stand alone - but it was always exacly 5 minutes of play back time and freeze.

Updated to a OEM version I had laying around without the limit and problem all fixed.

Happy happy man.Big Grin
