Hi,

I'm wondering does this and how exactly does it work?

What happens if after I record a particular episode, I edit and re-save it as a different file name. Will GB-PVR still be able to know and prevent from recording dupes if I set it to record all episodes?

It would depend upon whether it keeps a historical log of all episodes it records, or whether it checks for dupes based on what shows are still untouched in the file directory structure it expects.

Anyone know, I'd prefer it to keep a log. That'd be more roubust in case people edit and move their recordings around, at least GB-PVR will still know what was recorded and can prevent recording dupe episodes.

From what I've read here this option only works for zap2it users - something about zap2it epgs having a unique code for each episode of every show. If the episode is repeated, the guide has the same code embedded in it for that listing and the gbpvr scheduler won't schedule it to record again.

Somone correct me if I'm wrong (I'm in the UK and use an XMLTV guide so know very little about zap2it).

Cheers,
Brian

That sounds pretty close to how I understand it. I use zap2it, and I daily mess with the main database. I add stuff to the "sub_title" field so when it renames, it is what I want.
Here is a crappy cut and past of an entry. The last one (unique_identifier) corresponds to EP0039860153 all of the STNG shows start with EP003986, and the last 4 digits are the episodes unique number. I added the "147 - " to the sub_title. That is what rename recordings will change it to, then I can sort the folder, and see what all I have.

oid name sub_title description start_time end_time channel_oid unique_identifier
495133 Star Trek: The Next Generation 147 - Frame of Mind Amnesiac Riker finds himself trapped in an alien mental hospital. 9/17/2005 1:00:00 AM 9/17/2005 2:00:00 AM 83 EP0039860153
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
XBMC
Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.

Its under GB-PVR, the Config tab.

But I'm still wondering, if I rename or move the file from out of the directory it was originally recorded in, will GB-PVR be able to remember that I already recorded that particular episode and not try to record it again (when I have it set to record all episodes on that channel)?

Anyone know?

Since GB-PVR uses zap2it's unique ID to weed out duplicates, it shouldn't matter if you rename the file or place it in another directory. Of course this only works if you're using zap2it's progrlam info.

Bmel88, you can find the option using the 94.13. It's located on the last tab of the config app.

Give me that again in more detail. Provide examples if necessary to give me good understanding of your problem.
