Does anybody tried using GBPVR on a ReactOS machine ?
If so is it lighter than Windows XP ?

Not unless ReactOS supports some sort of .net framework. GBPVR is dependant on it.

Nice idea though.

Actually it seems it does :
From wikipedia :

ReactOS developers are working on improving the GUI system, adding networking, multimedia, and plug-and-play hardware support. Java and .NET support (through Mono) has also been stubbed. After multi user environment is developed Terminal Service and Remote desktop will be developed, for this XRDP, VNC and rdesktop will be used. Provisions for DOS, OS/2, and POSIX subsystems have also been made, in a similar fashion to the Windows NT subsystems.

DirectX support is available since October 2004 according to this page (Google cache because raoadmap link is broken on official site)
My concern is more about drivers : It seems we need to "extract" registry setting using a NT4 setup. AFAIK, hauppauge does not provide driver for my PVR250 on NT4. Too bad

When I saw this today I thought well I just have to try it out. I blew the dust off a spare machine in the basement and tried installing ReactOS just to see for myself. It seems to only support FAT32 at the moment and is limited in the disk partitioning tools capability. It installed very quickly (the disk image is only 12MB in size) from the CD image I downloaded. But when rebooting the first time it comes up with a GRUB loder error 17 message. So back to the drawing board. I guess I'll wait until the next reactOS release comes out and try again.

I went back to the reactOS web page to read their support files and they do not exist. This is real bleeding edge stuff, not ready for prime time yet.

Just to keep this updated, ReactOS 0.3 was released yesterday. When I saw the release at a news site, my first thought was to try installing GB-PVR on it. One of the downloads was a VMWare image, so I grabbed that since I dont have a free machine at the moment. Everything booted fine into the VM, and I had net connectivity, so I went to start trying to download GB-PVR. The default web browser doesn't seem to have the ability to download files, so I clicked on the "Get Firefox" link and got Firefox installed.. no problem.. browse to the gbpvr.com website, try to download the installer, crash Firefox. It happens every time, no matter what I try to download with Firefox.

Samba (Windows Networking) also seems not to be working - I thought I'd download and then copy over from the host machine.

I'm not ready to give up completely (I'm stubborn), but it still looks premature to say ReactOS will be a suitable platform (yet) for GB-PVR.

Still only has FAT32 support and no USB support. So using a remote or recording an HD program is pretty much a wash.
