I don't know if the cpu utilization is as high for the PCI cards, but to use TimeShift mode, you need to have a pretty beefy setup, quite a bit more powerful than what's in my sig. My PVR was almost able to playback a pre-recorded file smoothly (1080i), but Timeshifting was like watching a slideshow and live TV was impossible with the F5 USB (bluescreens). On my test box (A64 3700+,2GB RAM) handled TS fine (still couldn't watch live TV though).
