I'm relatively new to gbpvr. I've tried to comb through the forums and the wiki before I asked this.

I think I'm interpreting the documentation correctly to say that with certain skins I should be able to see a small video inset on the tv guide screen that is a live preview of whatever show is selected in the guide. I have tried the Blue, H-MVP and Contour skins, but I never see the inset. Can someone tell me if I'm wrong or how to configure this if I'm right?

Thanks! This is a great product and great community!

You need to be running v0.96 release of GB-PVR. When you're watching video, press the 'home' key and it switch to video inset mode.

Its not supported with the XCard or PVR350. It'll only work with the MVP if you're using the GBMVP.BIN dongle.

Try the Blue skin, since it definitely supports this feature.

I think it's disabled by default in the EPG. You would have to enter the skin file for the guide and remove the comment around the tag that shows the inset...

<!--
<Element name="InsetRect" loc="13,340" size="150,110"/>
-->

should be changed to

<Element name="InsetRect" loc="13,340" size="150,110"/>
I'm not always right

note: this wont "preview" the selected channel/show and wont change when you move around the guide, it will only show whatever you were watching when you switched to the menu.

Thanks all.

After pressing the 'home' key it did switch to inset mode and I saw live tv in the inset on the menu screen and the tv guide screen. As Reven said it was only what I was watching. I expected it to show what was selected in the guide.

I do have the PVR350 and it worked!

I haven't tried it yet with the MVP, but now that you mentioned it, what is a dongle? In my experience, a dongle was a hardware license key.

You're not using tv-out on the pvr-350, though, are you?

No, I am not using tv out. Is that what sub meant when he said that the PVR350 is not supported?

I have an MVP that I'm using and it seems like people have a lot of problems getting tv out to work. Is tv out worth it?

jep. the tv out (mpeg decoder) of the 350 is quite unique and sub did a lot of extra coding for it.
i can imagine that coding such thing for the tv out of the 350 is quite a challenge and not worth the effort.
