As I understand it, if you added filters or other effects to a MPEG it must be re-encoded. Your results seem a little long but if it was a two-pass encode It might be about right. I know when I use MovieFactory and do allow it to re-encode it takes all night. at least 9-10 hours. That's just a few small edits and re-encode to fit the disk, about 4 hours of TV squished on to a 4.7 DVD, No filters.

Yeah I did have 2-Pass encode so I dont think I will be doing filters anymore lol

Im using DVDLab Pro but I may try that TMPG Enc Author. What program do I use to cut commercials?

I use Cuttermaran. It works with the free version of TMPGEnc (http://download1.pegasys-inc.com/downloa...-Free.zip). I demux using the tools in TMPGEnc, load the video & audio files on Cuttermaran, and configure it to use TMPGEnc to re-encode & remux the files.

Cuttermaran is the only freeware tool I've found that allows you to make really precise cuts in an mpeg file.

videredo is so simple for editing out commercials etc.

convertXtodvd to make a simple dvd.

dvdshrink to knock it down to size if needed.

And I like dvdlab for more complicated stuff with menu's and sub menu's

tmpgenc when I want to frame / fix an aspect (convertx autodetects aspect, and often gets it wrong...)
