I just d'loaded and installed the latest VA plugin. Previously I had used just the older DVD2MPEG plugin to rip DVDs to MPGs. So now I have the latest everything(GB, VA, DVDDecrypter, BeSweet and MPLex).

My problem is that in the 3rd and final phase of ripping a DVD, MPLex seems to get stuck in some sort of loop, pounding away at the hard drive forever. This brings my PC almost to its knees. I let MPlex run overnight and it was still thrashing away at my HDD. I even tried to kill the rip using the GUI of GBPVR on my PC and clicking on DVD2MPEG's cancel button (or whatever its labeled to attempt to kill the rip). But that does not seem to halt MPlex either. I then have to try to Restart my PC - which takes a long time as everything is runing sooo slow. GBPVR even reports "DLL Initialization Failed - windows is shutting down" many times before system ever restarts. It can take 30 mins to restart Sad I restart in Safe mode and delete all the rip-releated files on the plugins temp folder. Then restart normally...

Below is the Archiver-PC.log. Maybe Jeff can determine what it going wrong here?

FYI - the DVD I am attempting to rip is called PAPER.

Thanks!!

Update: I spoke too soonSmile MPlex apparently did end, as the temp folder is now empty. BUT, no MPEG file can be found in the path I configured DVD2MPEG to use. What other log file can I check? Where did the ripped MPEG go? Or more likely, what type of problem did MPlex run into?

The Archiver-PC log has not changed since the one I pasted in first email...

It just gets more and more confusing Smile MPlex must have still been running, as HDD was getting beaten up again. I restarted in Safe mode and deleted the rip-related files from DVD2MPEG's temp folder.

1) Is there an easier way to kill MPlex when it goes haywire? Is there anything else I need to clean up after deleting the files from temp folder?

2) Why doesn't MPlex display a DOS box with status information like DVDDecrypter and BeSweet?

3) What is a typical processing time for the 3rd phase(MPlex)? The DVDDecrypter took about 25 mins. BeSweet another 10 mins. Is MPlex supposed to take hours?

TIA!

No, I am around. Mplex starts in a dos box for me. Maybe somehting is wrong with your mplex install. The command that the plug-in uses is written to the log file. You could configure the plug-in to not delete any temperary filesand thaen start a command console window and manually type in the mplex command line to see what it does.
