I have spent many hours trying out MediaPortal and GBPVR. I had given up on the latter due to its apparent inabilty to find more than 15 channels (repeated across frequencies that the software which came with my MSI MEGASKY 580 does not even pickup as being local frequencies!!), although these channels are duplicated 6 times (across the 6 local frequencies). However, despite MediaPortal being excellent until its recent CVS changes completely stuffing itself, I decided to revisit GBPVR.
Having spent hours researching frequencies, various PIDs etc. from the configuration files of MP, GBPVR and output from TransEdit MMC demo, I believed I had put together a comprehensive list of the channels and their associated data to enable me, with the help of a forum topic here on GBPVR, to manually edit my cache file.
However, editing it made no difference - ie. channel frequencies which are entirely valid, and are picked up by MP and Presto!PVR (came with MSI device), still do not work....
How on earth is GBPVR tuning? Why is it missing entirely valid channels (broadcasting at good strength)? Perhaps someone from the dev team should look at some code from MP.... if GBPVR got its tuning correct, I'd use it. Instead, I'm stuck with Presto because it works (despite it's awful lack of features, interface and crap use of EPG!!)

HELP ME SOMEONE!!

I can provide my version of the cache file, and my entries in BDA.ini if someone wishes to inspect!!

GBPVR looks to be a brilliant interface (with added benefit of Net Radio too - especially "The Goon Show"!!), if only it tuned properly!!

Yes do that.

Also start the config app, view your capture source settings, then click the 'map digital channels to epg channels' button, then post your config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log.

GB-PVR treats all BDA devices the same, and does things the way Microsoft recommends. This works fine for the vast majority of devices, but you do get the occasional one like this that must have something in its drivers that is slightly different than rest, which makes it not like the way GB-PVR does things.

I had exactly the same difficulty as you did, and I also have an MSI mega sky 580. The problem in my case was simply that media portal registers direct show filters which are then unintentionally picked up and used in gbpvr. To make it work either uninstall media portal or install the latest version (I'm using 0.2 + stable patch) as the newer versions register the problematic filters with lower priority so that the two programs can coexist

Hope that helps
