I just found out why my FM radio on my PVR-350 stoped working and the scan button vanished. If config / Playback / hardware decoding device is set to the Hauppauge board then the FM radio cannot be played!

The FM plugin appears to work but:
- the SCAN button is gone
- A station can be manually added
- Playing a station results in : Failed to communicate with recording service

Anyone know of a solution?

It is normal that the scan button is removed when you're using the PVR350 tv out or Media MVP. You need to either manually add the channels, or temporarily scan with the MVP or PVR350 tv out disabled. Its a one off activity, so not a huge hassle.

Sounds like you dont have the required LAME encoder installed. I'm not at my normal PC at the moment, so I cant tell you the exact link, but its been posted here a few times in the past, so try using the forum search to find it.

GB-PVR with PVR350 TVout ist a wunderful thing. But FM Radio and Net Radio doesn't use the TVout. They only play local on the PC. This is only a little problem, can be solved with a scart cable with audio in. But a better way could be when the sound of them will played by a still-picture-movie in GB-PVR. But the TVout isn't still under develpment, cause some users have big problems with it.

Thanks! That was rapid support, especially for midnight (PST). My FM Radio for PVR-350 works great now.

A summary for future readers:

If hardware decoding is enabled on the PVR-350 (GB config) then the FM radio requires the lame direct show DLL to work. Note that scan will not work in this case but that is an easy one-time fix:
- Scan for channels BEFORE enabling Hardware Playback. If already enabled simply disable, restart GB-PVR, scan for channels, then restore hardware playback setting.

To obtain the DLL:

-- Download from: http://www.elecard.com/download/
--- Scroll to the end of the page or do a search for: lame
-- Install (manual process, but easy). The following assumes a standard XP install
--- Copy the file 'lame.ax' that is in the zip to C:\Windows\system32
--- Start / Run
--- Type: cmd
--- cd \Windows\system32
--- regsvr32 lame.ax
---- A message indicating DLL was installed should appear

This has been explained in other threads (although the lame.ax file seems to change names on occasion). I thought it only applied to MVP playback since my FM seemed to work fine. But when I switched to hardware decoding the lame decoder was required.

Sorry to hear TV-Out is not under development it is GREAT. I can now place a small spare LCD in my cabinet for non video operations. I mostly listen to radio, streams, etc. When I want to watch TV I can turn on TV and control everything from there. I really like not having to have the TV on all the time. I especially like how GB-PVR becomes less visible (a text message) when video is playing.
