When recording about four shows running straight after each other from the same channel, gbpvr records first show with first tuner, second with second tuner, third with first tuner and fourth with second tuner. But as second tuner is HVR-1300 and capturing with Web Scheduler DVB-T MPEG4 TS and was not currently available to GBPVR, GBPVR failed recording the second and fourth shows resulting 0 bytes length files.

Could it be somehow told to GBPVR that if it needs to record from the same channel many shows in a line it continuously uses only the same (first) tuner not switches tuners?

Server: homemade (ASUS MB, AMD x2 5200+, 4G RAM, 3.2TB RAID5, 1Gbit) + DVB-T Hauppauge HVR1300 (h264 TS) + IPTV
Clients: ASUS Pundit-R (P4 3.2GHz Northwood!, 1G RAM, zero HDD - netboot, WinLIRC to use Hauppauge remote on system without Hauppauge devices) + IBM ThinkPad T42 (pvr over 802.11g) + FSC N560 WM6 (802.11g) + etc Smile

As a quick fix, when you see this situation, why not just set a manual recording with start and stop time as appropriate.

In config, set up one set of channels for tuner 1, and another set for tuner 2.
If the channel is not available for tuner 2, then tuner 1 will record it all.
You can never have enough tuners!

The main question is that if and how GBPVR should recognize if one defined tuner is already occupied (not by GBPVR) and then sort of falls back to single tuner setup?

Sub, any possibility? Or is it just another feature request in wishlist? Smile

May I ask a more fundamental question? Why run two conflicting pieces of software when they both achieve the same thing?

gbpvr has a web interface, i'm not sure I understand why you would run another piece of software that could seize a tuner such that the other piece of software wouldn't be aware.

gbpvr expects there to be the tuners available that you have configured it to use. You have broken that functionality and I can't see what you're gaining.

Ok, the whole story then. Here in Estonia, there are going on DVB-T tests to switch off analog TV after a while. This DVB-T is not yet announced as service, but as it is in test period. They are pioneering MPEG4 AVC/h264 in DVB-T simultanously in the same TS with MPEG2 PS. As I could understand, only France has done this before, no other country yet. So, to watch this DVB-T I need to capture TS with other software than GBPVR, because GBPVR won't handle yet MPEG4 AVC DVB-T streams.

Ok, thanks for explaining that. I just couldn't understand why you were doing what you were doing.

Although it would be a bit of hassle and unsupported, you could do what i've done in the past which is that if you have MS Access (or access the data in another programatic way), edit the entry in the recording table and change the tuner that will be used. I've done this in the past where I have had two channels with sequential recordings and gbpvr used to run out of tuners doing this flip-flop thing of allocation though that logic has now been changed.
