You need to give us more info. What remote do you have? What do you wan to do with it? How does this relate to not having a cable box?

I have the Hauppauge 45 button remote from my WinTV pvr 150 package. I keep reading that you need a cable box (which I don't have) in order to use the remote. I want to be able to change the channels and select tv show to record, view my recordings using the remote and close gb-pvr with the remote. Thanks

Where on earth do you keep reading that? Stop reading that immediately! Wink
What you could be reading is that you need a cable box (or set top box) in order to use the ir blaster that comes with the pvr-150. The ir blaster's only job is to change channels on the set top box, so if you don't have a set top box you don't have to use, nor install, the ir blaster.
