Yeah, it does tend to be slow sometimes. There isnt a downloadable version that I know of. It's in Wiki form so that the community can add/edit it.
Might be worth a forum search. Are there any specific issues / questions you have?

Well two problems right now, fonts seem to be too big for the text boxes in the guide or the menu options with the default skin.
Second how do you set it up so you will always be recording live tv? Now if I try to pause the screen goes black and it gives me a message about switching modes, how do you set that mode by default.

This will mean slower channel changes though, as it needs to buffer a small amount of data before playback each time you change channels.

1) Check your Windows settings for large fonts.
2) Untick Use live preview mode if possible on the Misc tab in the config app. I'm pretty sure this will make GBPVR use timeshift mode by default. edit: lol, 'super sub' beat me to it
