Recording Service Fails to start

.NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting

I noticed that trying to restart the service through the systemtray menu doesn't work either . . . I thought it did at first, but I seem to have been mistaken. Same with putting the restart batch file in my startup folder.
The only way that I can reliably use this program is by going into the services list and manually start it through there.

This is because you've got NOD32 installed. I posted with the v0.97.7 and v0.97.9 release announcements that NOD32 is known to be incompatible with .net remoting which is used by GB-PVR. It will cause the recording service (and any other application using .net remoting) to crash. I also posted this in the sticky 'v0.97.9 survival guide' thread.

The easiest thing to do is uninstall NOD32. Alternatively you could look at adding NOD32 exclusions for the GB-PVR executables, but this isnt something I've tested.

The GB-PVR Recording Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 16 time(s).

So, the IMON application is my antivirus monitor (NOD32), but I explicitly put that executable as an exception to any rule detection.
I realize after viewing the application log that this is a matter to do with my security software and not GB-PVR, so I'll stop bugging the forum about it; however, if anyone catches this and has a fix for me, I'm all ears.

The manufacturer of NOD32 is aware of the issue with .net remoting, so hopefully they're provide a fix in the near future. They have known about the issue for at least six months, so dont seem to be in any blinding hurry. Until they fix it, I'll just advise people to uninstall NOD32.

Where the Recording Service fails to start on a reboot. I had it with the .98 version and now after a clean install of the .99.5 version of gbpvr. Here is the message in the windows system event log:

"Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the GB-PVR Recording Service service to connect."

I don't believe any of the gb-pvr logs show any additional info.

Here are some of the other programs running on the computer at startup:
AVG antivirus free version 7.5
Spybot search and destroy version 1.4
Alarmwiz
ZoneAlarm version 6.5.731
Daemon Tools 4.03

I have had other .net 2.0 errors which prompted the clean install and a repair of .net 2.0.

Any ideas what I can try to solve this problem?

Never mind, I just fixed it I think. Apparently there was a problem with my systems paging file. Setting the page file to zero, rebooting, and then setting it back to system managed size seems to have fixed it. Keeping my fingers crossed.
