I'm about to buy a pvr500, but it seems to me there's no IR receiver on any of them... esp the MCE versions (which makes sense). I already have an intervideo remote and receiver, but the only buttons that work in gbpvr on it are the numerals and arrows, since they send straight keyboard commands, as if i'd actually pressed those keys on my keyboard.

from what i can figure, most of the other buttons on this remote send ctrl-shift-alt-<key> commands for most of the buttons... which is kinda weird, imho. i haven't found a way to remap the output of this to make it work with gbpvr (or anything else), but this remote has a couple of huge redeeming features that make me want to keep it. first, it feels great in my hand, and the buttons are arranged in a nice way. also, when you press 'toggle' on the remote, the directionals and 3 buttons nearby turn into a mouse - i can navigate windows without trying to make my mouse work on the arm of the sofa. granted, it's nowhere as quick/easy as a real mouse, but it sure beats trying to "tab and arrow" around windows! the only reservation i have about this remote is that it lacks the 4 color buttons. however, it does have a row of 4 buttons at the top that could be used as the color buttons (with a couple dabs of paint Wink) if i could just figure out how to remap the damn thing!

i DO have a haup. 34 button, which came with my mvp, but it acts like it has no batteries when i try to use it with the intervideo IR receiver (but it does - it runs the mvp just fine). different frequency maybe? dunno...

i guess what i'm asking is; if i get a pvr500, what are my options for using either the intervideo remote or the haup34? i have no need for an ir blaster - no digital cable or sattelite or anything - just straight analog, letting the 500 handle the tuning. i've seen the usb-uirt, but $50 seems a tad steep for something that i don't really need all the features of.

does a version of the pvr500 exist that comes with a real hauppauge remote and receiver? my htpc box has the room to put two 150's inside, but i was thinking maybe it'd be cheaper to get one pvr500 rather than a pvr150 and a pvr150mce. but since i have not actually purchased my tuners yet, now's the time to figure out all my options so i can make the best decision.

btw sub - this is a pretty nice lookin app you got here! i can't wait to try it out once i get a real capture card (all i have right now is a couple old software (bt878) cards). i wish gbpvr supported them, even without timeshift... just timer recordings, ya know?

oh, and before anyone says "just use the mvp," i would... if only it would actually play all my media. i have a ton of divx clips (like futurama, simpsons, and similar stuff) that i'd like to be able to watch, but the mvp just reboots itself when trying to play them. sure, i could use a buncha disk space and time transcoding them all, but that kinda defeats the purpose, ya know?

You might get them to work using the software recorder plugin: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugi...reRecorder
