I resurrected my HTPC after a lightning strike about 3 months ago.

I believe I was using driver v2.0.35.23348 with decent results; I needed to use some of the registry tweaks in order to eliminate audio clipping, though.

I had problems with Tuner 1 (S-video connection; audio OK but video is pure white) and let Windows Update update the driver automagically. It is now running v2.0.48.25037. Of course, the upgrade eliminated all my registry tweaks so audio is clipping again.

I moved my analog video over to Tuner 2 which appears to work OK, except for the audio clipping. According to Device Manager, Tuner 2 is running the older driver v2.0.35.23348.

I checked hauppauge.com and noticed that they package a large update file including drivers, middleware and WinTV2K app.

Has anyone tried the new stuff, and can the input audio levels be controlled as was possible with the older drivers? Any benefits going with the new drivers?

TIA!

I used (PVR-150's but same drivers) the drivers only from

Looks like you're using the same driver version that Windows Update fed to me. Do you experience any audio problems (clipping, hitting the automatic gain control limit)?

But at least I know that the "all in one" package that Hauppauge supplies works OK for some.

I re-did my cask-of-amontillado.com registry tweaks to manipulate audio levels last night, seems to work OK (on my PVR-500 tuner 2, since tuner 1 seems to be toast).

I'll probably run it as is for at least the time being, perhaps it is time for me to start searching for an analog video capture card replacement. Fewer vendors seem to stock the PVR-150/500 these days.

Thanks!

No, no audio problems at present.

I did have a general problem for a while there with stuttering video and audio togteher and further back an issue with out of sync audio after recording a long show >1hr, but that seems OK for now fingers crossed.

I looked at COA a couple of times over the last few years but there was some big warning about only using certain components of it and the WAF is most important ... so I chickened out.

I'm OK with the 2xPVR150's for now, but if a really good dual card came along I'd use it. Still on Analog, although digital and HD are just starting to come through here, but unfortunately I am not within the coverage area for the former and the latter is only via cable.

In the States we can get ATSC broadcasts, both SD and HD. They are VERY nice, when the reception works well. Interference that is merely annoying under analog TV (e.g. ghosting) can be extremely disruptive under digital, though.

I hope your digital TV options expand quickly!
