Hi all,
i currently have a hauppaugge Pvr 150 and been using it along with GB Pvr for the past year with cable to record shows when i am unable to watch them like a VCR method. Next month i will be switching to Dish Network and i need to figure out how i can continue to record my daily shows with Dish Network like the Vcr method. I have read some of the other postings and i think i have it figured out and need some confirmation on if i am right or not.

I need to set up channel 17 by adding it under the capture source's. sounds easy anything else i am missing ?

Does Zap2it have a Dish network channel line up that i can use or must i always choose channel 17 to record for my shows ?

Also anytime and everytime i record a show will i always set it to record on channel 17 in GB Pvr and the Dish network should change it to whatever channel by the reciever that i want to record ?

I think that is all of my questions for now i havent gotten the Dish network yet and i am trying to get it all figured out so i can know everything and go right into it.

Thanks

I have Dish and a Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2. I connected the s-video out of my Dish receiver to the s-video in of the USB2, and the audio too, of course. I don't have an IR blaster, so I program the Dish receiver to tune itself to the proper station at the right time.

I get program guide info from zap2it, although they have an annoying habit of automatically adding new channels to my line-up whenever Dish Net adds them, even when they are ethnic/international/sports channels not included in any of their packages, that you have to special order from Dish Net to subscribe to.

Also, I found that I have to start recording 2 minutes early, to ensure that I get the beginning of shows. My computer's time seems to be about 1 minute and 10 seconds behind what the Dish receiver says the time is (I keep my pc synchronized to pool.ntp.org) and some of the networks/channels seem to fiddle with their show start times, as well.

i have a pvr 150 and dish too..i also use the svideo cable to connect it...
and the irblaster works for my dish box but i have another dish box that it can't tune, tho it's old and not available anymore, newer boxes should be tuneable..
use the "haupblast.exe" as channel changer in config, yes,zap2it has the listings

and i also get annoyed by the channels they add so i use the xmltv import from zap2it so i can control that...[it gives you options to never add new channels]
but it can be a bit much for a newbie to setup..start with the built-in zap2it guide..it's easy to setup and works fine..Smile

yea,the time is best set without nntp servers...unless your MB clock is fast/slow, you're better off just setting the same time the cable box shows on screen..[it's their time you're trying to sync with anyways]
or using a nntp client that lets you set a +/- offset..Smile
the shows can be off a min. or so even by their clock so a 1 min. padding is a good idea...
