Yes, I'm not saying its just VIA chipsets. The freeze seems to be occuring with quite few different motherboards. VIA are just one of the problem ones. I've not seen a definitive list, but you'll see people referreing to a wider list of hardware causing the problem on the SageTV forums.
I've not actually seen the problem myself, but its able to make the system freeze, then its definitly occuring in the drivers.
Strangle the linux drivers (ivtv) for this card also have a problem with VIA hardware. They've tracked it down to problems with DMA transfers. Lets hope its not a fundamental hardware problem, but instead something that can be fixed with newer drivers.
