"scrambled" video?!

I may be crazy, but I am almost sure that I read someone else having this problem recently, but 2 hours of looking in various forums gives me no joy.

My new wintv 250 works just fine with the (not so nice) wintv 2000 software, but I get "scrambled" looking video from gbpvr, sage, and btv. Audio is fine on all counts.

What stupid thing am I doing wrong?

OK. So I have read through the links that you posted as well as a number of other websites. Installing a whole host of frequencies in the registry, however, does not help me at all.

Is ther any way to get gbpvr to auto-tune? or can I "import" the frequencies that wintv2000 came up with?

Just for archives sake, let me say that this is a channel tuning (frequency) issue that many have solved by hand tweaking the registry.

or someone could search these or related forums (sage, btv, etc.) for "freqcopy" as that is another utility that some (but not I) have had success with.

I will stop posting to this thread now....(probably)...answers should be elsewhere.

I was actually wrong on this one. There are several unrelated "tuner" issues floating around. Some can be easily fixed by registry monkeying. Others (like mine - new version 1.5 of the wintv 250) cannot be fixed that easily.

Although I have not tried it yet, Hauppauge is supposedly frantically working on a new set of drivers and this guy at snapstream seems to have a pre-beta (would that be an alpha?) release.... here
