Can you try it with the Intervideo nonCSS Video Decoder, then zip and attach the logs?

My input is the cable from my cable company.. I think you call that a Tuner.. I plugged it to my hauppauge..
When I use WinTv2000 (The software that came with it) it works fine and I can see the channels great...
It's weird..

It appears that I have the same problem as he did. I tried to follow the same steps you told him to follow but for some reason I can only view channel 3 on my computer. The funny thing is that it is the channel we have to put the TV on for the cable to view. Strange thing is that right now I have it on my PC.

I wanted to first get it all working on my computer where I am comfortable before I hook it all up to the TV.

Now, I do have this split on the out of the cable box. One line comes to the PC and the other to the TV. I should still be able to watch a seperate channel than that of the TV in the other room correct?

Your cable box will only ever be outputting one channel (CH3). This channel will always show the channel the cable box is currently tuned to.

How you should be setup can vary between cable operators.

If your cable operator transmits non-scrambled analog channels, like many operators in the US, placing the splitter before the cable box would allow you to tune in all analog channels. In this case the tuner on your capture card can be tuned to any of the analog channels, and has no relationship to the channel currently selected on your cable box (separate channel on PC and TV).

If your cable operator is only transmitting digital cable, or scrambled analog, then you have no option other than using the cable box and connecting it to your capture device. In this type of setup, you'll only ever be able to tune in the channel your cable box is set to. With this type of setup, you can use an IR Blaster to automatically change channels on your cable box whenever it is required
