Hauppauge Nova-T + Technotrend BDA: Does the remote just not work?

I have a Nova-T with remote (one of the earlier 909 versions) and am using the Technotrend BDA drivers so i can use gbpvr and after some research, experimentation and generally just messing about, i've managed to get everything just about working except the remote control which doesn't work at all...

Is there some sort of trick to get the Hauppauge remote to work? I tried installing IR32 separately and running that, then stopping it from running and it didn't work either way...

This is a bit of a pain, but is it just a case of if I use the Technotrend BDA drivers with my Nova-T, the remote control stops working because the Technotrend drivers don't have the necessary remote control support???

Unfortunately I think that is the case.

Yep this is the case as I have the 909 version and the remote will not work.
