You could try to choose another mpegdecoder instaed of the default one.
As wintv2000 works, the "Intervideo noncss etc" should be available.
Try to switch to that one.

I was having the "error playing back file" message on my newly installed client.
after a couple hours playing with it, I figured out how to fix mine.

I was actually just messing around, believing it wouldnt work, but it did.

when it was all 1 system, the recordings went to f:\pvr\
I imagine the database still points to that path.
on the server, I shared the root directory (f:\)
that is not advisable if you only have 1 drive, but my drive is ONLY for GBPVR.
on the client I then mapped "\\server\F" to F:
everything suddenly started working!!

the PVR directory is still on the drive, I just took the drive to the other computer.
so when the client looks for F:\pvr\ it will find it, but it will be on a network drive.

as I read what I typed, it seems hard to understand, but I dont know how to explain it.
hopefully, someone will know exactly what I am typing about and make it clearer.

I also want to say these drive letters and directories are for my system, and you should use the ones yours is set up for.
Server--AthlonXP 2100+ \ PVR150MCE \ HVR1600 x2
Client 1--Athlon64 3200+
Client 2--Athlon64 3700+
Client 3--Turion64x2 1.9 laptop

I am also getting the Error playing back file.
On my system I get this the second time I try to watch a program.
The first time it appears to play fine. If I stop watching then try to start the recording again then I get the error.
I have tried both streaming and file share. I am positive everything is set up properly since it works the first time I watch the recording.
I have attached my logs as well.
Thanks

Did also try the trick with using the same drive letter on the client witout luck. Tried all the installed mpeg decoders still no luck.

I'm gonna format my hd's from the server and client and start with a clean setup. tried much plugins over time and new version over new version of gbpvr.

Thanks all verry much for you're help. Will let you know how it runs with the fresh setup over a couple of day's

p.s is there a easy way to make a backup of my stored channels? I remember that that was the most hard part to do during setup.

Not really just the channels. You'd have to backup the whole database (gbpvr.mdb/gbpvr.db3) and restore it. Dont ever restore this file to a different version of GB-PVR than what it came from though.

Not sure if you sorted it out yet, but for the settings you mentioned below, did you share the server's G drive as the name G? With what you have below, this is the only way it would have worked.

To simplify, I would have shared the directry " g:\video\video recorded files" as the name MyVideo on the server and then on the client side, set both directories to \\MEDIAENTER\MyVideo.

don_care100 Wrote:Sub / Htv,

I have Wintv2000 installed and it works. Read below all the settings I have for playback. I unchecked all the plugins in GBPVR config and removed all the plugins. Still no play back on the server.

I deinstalled the client GBPVR and reinstalled it but still the same result. O and I have \\Mediasystem\G\Video\Video Recorded Files as the recording share on the client site.

I think the best way is to reinstall everything (client and server) because everyting seems (for so far I can see) ok

Thanks in advance guys....

Don

Guys,

I did a clean install with version 98.13 on the server and client site and it work OK. I had a lot of problems with my new hardware for the client but everything is ok now.

p.s i give the server and client the same drive letters. (eg g:\videofiles)

Thanks for the support you all !!!
