I want to have GBPVR convert my recordings at night, but my CPU is always doing random crap that I believe is preventing GBPVR from transcoding. I have it set up to convert from 1am - 12pm as I don't use the computer before noon (nor do I record any morning shows). Is there a way to have GBPVRConvert.exe have a higher CPU priority?

I very much doubt that raising the priority of the transcoding process will fix whatever problem is preventing it from running correctly.

Typically, one should leave the process priorities alone and let the scheduler handle runtime. While some people have upped the priority of their ir.exe (remote) to improve responsiveness, the only usefull thing to do with tweaking the priorities is to run (cpu intensive) transcoding processes at a lower priority so that they don't interfere with the normal use of the pvr system.

Do the gbpvr logs show the transcoding process in operation or indicate any errors when running?

I actually haven't really paid attention to the log files, so theoretically the auto-convert process is probably working as it should. However, I assume if it were working for 11 hours a night--and I don't use my computer in the mornings--that all of my videos would have been transcoded by now. CSI:Miami was recorded last Monday and it still is an MGEG-2. It might be because I have MemTurbo, Trillian, D-Link wireless software running in the background, along with the fact that I have "Fast User Switching" enabled and my roommate never logs out...nor do I.

But all this is moot. I just realized that the MediaMVP GBPVR server will have to convert Divx/Xvid back to MPEG-2, which I don't plan to do. Since I don't need these files to be relinked into the GBPVR database, I don't need to use auto-convert. Thanks for all your help.
