Hi

today i finally got my client up and runing and setting it up with the gb-pvr server in terms of tv guide and recordings went very easy! i love using the great plugin myvideos 5 with my server pc and would love using it on my client PC. the thing is that the data i mark on my server (episode names, metadata, watched, position etc) does not appear in my client. Could this be done? if not now will it be in the future? i dont want to start tagging all my 400 GB of series and TV shows if i cant use the tags all over the houseBig Grin
thx for this great plugin

just set your database connection string to point to the same mydatabase.mdb file as on your server, you just have to make sure your client has rights to that directory.

changing the database location of the my videos database wont have any impact "Recordings" or "TV Guide" they get their info from the gbpvr database.

and my videos will still be able to see the information about recorded shows from the gbpvr api.

also you need to make it so all your tv shows, movies etc will be in the same location on both computers.

eg instead of D:\my videos\tv shows\whatever, change your virtual root to use
\\thepc\my videos\tv shows\whatever
etc, so they appear in the same location on all machines

thx again for the reply

it turns out that mydatabase.mdb sits at the root level of gb-pvr so it was set correctly all along (when i configed the client i put all the paths to the root dir of GB-PVR). should i move the database (mydatabase.mdb)to a sperate directory so that will be the only dir? wouldnt that break the plugin?
also i will mention that as sub advised i changed my gb-pvr database to sql lite with the built in tool, dont know if that whats causing the problem!

thx again

as i understand it, the gbpvr client/server is just for the gbpvr database, and thus tv/recordings. plugins need to be configured on each client or server as they normally would, so just point every instance of the my videos plugin to the same database and have the virtual roots the exactly the same, well eg
"TV Shows"
have "\\server\directory\tv shows"
on both an not
"D:\my videos\tv shows" on one and
"\\server\directory\tv shows"
on the other.

i had it work fine in a client/server setup for a couple of days using 0.97.13 (or whatever the last .0.97 release was), but have now switched to sql server 2005.

hi again

i guess i have no luck with it, i did exactly as you said and pointed ALL things that need pointing Wink (vid library, paths etc...) to a common path (\\Zeltak\media\Video\) but still i dont get the info i make on the server (seen/not seen, vid position for resume playback, show info etc..) on the server:o , is there any chance reven for better server cleint support in future versions? i would love to use this really amazing plugin (and put a lot of hours tagging my videos with it...) but if i can make it work in my setup i will revert to the original video plugin.

Thx again for all your support and AWESOME plugin!

resume position = gbpvr db

im using the same database for 3 installs of gbpvr right now, so i know it works fine. post your configs of all your installs.
