Hope this hasn't been addressed before.

I've had some success recording HDTV with the Air2PC (HD5000) card, using BDA drivers that the company provided to me. Using the cyberlink mux that comes along with AutoDVRConvert1.3 didn't seem to work too well (a lot of broken frames), so I settled for recording using dvr-ms mux and then using the "transcode to mpeg2" option manually on recordings I want to archive.

The recordings play back great from the dvr-ms file. However, when I select the option from the "my videos" plugin to transcode to mpeg2, the transcoding starts, but stalls out after about 20MB. After that, the CPU is pinned at 100% until I end the process from task manager. I tried using the graphedit method also, and the behavior is the same.

Anybody seen this?

System:
AMD Sempron 2400+, ECS Nforce2 mobo, 1 GB RAM
Geforce 6200
Hauppauge PVR 250
Air2PC (Technisat, HD5000)
Windows XP SP2
GBPVR 98.13 and patches

Thanks

It'll be something in the stream that the Cyberlink mux doesnt like. Probably worth trying a newer version of the Cyberlink mux filter. You can run MuxChecker to see what version you have.

Thanks sub.

I'm using Cyberlink MPEG Muxer 5.0.0813. Does anybody have a newer version? If so, where did you get it? If from a product, which product?

I dont have any download info for you, but I can confirm there are at least three versions newer than that one. I'm sure a forum search would turn up some sources for you.

Tried again with 5.0.2022, after having removed 5.0.0813; same behavior. It takes about 10 minutes to transcode a 2GB file up to 20MB, then it stops writing output and the CPU is at 100% until I manually stop it. There are no errors in the log; the last entry is "VERBOSE transcode processing started".

Is there something else I could try? Maybe a different utility or different mux? I don't really need to process every show like this, only the ones I want to encode to avi.

There is no settings you can tweak with this, other than trying different versions of the mux. It'll either work or wont.

Your could try third party solutions like AutoDVRConvert, but I've never used it myself, so cant vouch for its performance. I'm fairly sure it just does the same thing as GB-PVR though (ie, connects DVR-MS directshow filter to Cyberlink mux).

I suspect you are right, since I was just trying AutoDVRConvert and it exhibited much the same behavior.

Thanks

For future reference, if anyone has this board the muxer

pempgmux.ax
VERSION: 4.0.2221

that comes with Cyberlink powerencoder actually works great (as in this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=14792 Don't know how I missed that on searching the first time)

Thanks for your help sub.

I'm trying to use pempgmux.ax 4.0.2221, but I when I start to encode a file from dvr-ms to mpeg2 (from the Video Library in GB-PVR), the audio starts playing and the mpeg video is created without the audio. Any idea what this could be?

Maybe the GBPVRConvert.exe-native.log can help (I've stopped the process manually, so it's a short log):

As I said above, there is nothing tweakable about this process. All you can do is try different versions of the Cyberlink mux and hope one works better for you.
