Hi (pBs) :-)
I'm currently trying to get some place on my HD again and am planning on using Showburner to do the job. I installed the latest version from the wiki and have two questions.

I have decided to use VideoRedo to manually remove commercials/padding and save the files as an mpg afterwards (originally recorded from DVB-T using Cyberlink mux, PAL).

4 things I'd like to ask about:

1) When I put a recording with a long title on DVD, is it possible to get the title to "wrap" -- in the example I tried, the title was long and it went off either side of the screen

2) Can I alter the size/position of the screenshot and the position of the "next" or "main menu" buttons (the buttons are too far to the right on my tv screen)

3) Are/where are the screenshots saved -- I'd like to use them for covers

4) Is it possible to manually enter the show info anywhere (or read it from a text file somehwere). If I use VideoRedo to edit the recording and give it a new name, the show info isn't put on DVD

As you can see, nothing serious but nice to have!

yea, i have seen that on a couple tv's i've played it on, [buttons off the screen] so i adjusted it but still it's a ways over there on some tv's...

it's not that easy to adjust the positions of things on the screen, cuz i have to adjust the batch file, the menu.xml *and* the highlight.png files all accordingly..
[i just used gui4dvdauthor to build the existing ones and adjust the bat]

if you know a bit about batch files, check the burndvd.bat and look at the end for the lines that delete the temp thumbs and 'rem' them out and you'll have thumbnails to play with...Smile

i can't wrap the title lengths, limitation of the graphics magick program..
[do you mean the title or sub-title?]
tho not many should be that long...

not really possible to enter show info manually, tho if you save the files back as same name from video-redo, info willl show up..
[or re-import them under new name to database with manually edited info, see 'mpeg-import']

all of this is only if you don't want to edit batch file yourself...if you do, anything's possible..Big Grin [even using video-redo to do cuts automatically]
and you could also use mencoder to cut them if outputting .edl files from comskip..

in next version i will be adjusting layout on screen and some other visual enhancements...maybe graphical overlayed buttons on the thumbnail...
[probably just shift whole thing over to left some tho]

thanks for the quick answer!

I'm not that hot on batch files, but when you know where to look, its not hard to make a copy and play with that.

In my case, the title and sub-title were both the same -- and both went over the edges.

Giving the files their original names is the easiest way to keep the show info.

I had been experimenting with comskip, but couldn't get the commercials to be exactly where they should be. Running comskip in debug mode, setting the commercials at the right place and then running mencoder didn't cut the commercials out properly either. I think its a combination of bad timestamps and me not knowing what I'm doing. VideRedo is very easy to use manually and also fairly quick

you could just change the font size and that should help some...
in this line..
Code:
gm convert  -gravity north -font helvetica -pointsize 36 -fill black -draw "text 2,52 '%titl%'" -noop -fill white -draw "text 0,50 '%titl%'" -noop -pointsize 22 -fill black  -draw  "text 1,375 '%stitl%'"  -pointsize 18 -draw "text 285,250 '%buttn%'"  -pointsize 18  -draw  "text 1,410 '%desc1%'" -draw  "text 1,430 '%desc2%'" -draw  "text 1,450 '%desc3%'" -resize 720x480! back2.jpg menu%thumb%.jpg
change the -pointsize xx before the item you want to change the size of..
[%titl% and %stitl%]
try something like -pointsize 20 or 18 and see if it doesn't fit..[and you can still read it]

oh and try the latest comskip with "99" for methods...the sound processing realy helps mine..
but i sure like the video-redo method for marking them...it seems to make very good cut decisions..Smile

Hi,

I haven't got around to monkeying with the batchfile yet but for some reason, it has stopped working. Was working fine a few days ago, now when I queue a file using the transcode button, it says e.g. "the current total is now jigabytes" (doesn't tell me the size -- previous version did), when I reselect the file, press transcode and then burn dvd, the "now transcoding ..." screen flashes up for a (very) few seconds, disappears and nothing happens. Trying it on a different file doesn't help either. Can I create/check any logs?

Thanks

PS. nothing else in the system has changed.

Hey I have the same exact problem. I get the jigabites message then it closed the window. I can't even get to a screen to allow me to burn the dvd... Anyone have any idea?

I haven't managed to get this working myself, but could it have something to do with the paths to, e.g., ffmpeg.exe in the burndvd.bat file not being in inverted commas?

Perhaps I should mention that I am also running a German version of XP so the "program files" aren't in "C:\Program Files", they are in "C:\Programme". Could it be that different language versions of XP handle spaces and symbols "." in filenames/paths differently?

hmmm, it shouldn't matter about the german..nor programme...but i've heard things like that...
inverted commas? lol it actually should be double-quotes.." "
usually the quotes on computer prevent insides from being parsed...
but they may use something different...[single quote or such]
i'd suggest changing all double quotes to singles, but it will break other things...
[some lines have them mixed on purpose,the programs need them]

The_E: go ahead and manually edit all the ffmpeg.exe lines to be correct for your machine..
there's also one in the showbuner dir called "adddvd.bat" that has a ffmpeg line in it..
my install program gets the gbpvr dir from the registry, so it has to be right or gbpvr wouldn't run...and appends that to the ffmpeg.exe line...so not sure how that could be going wrong...
it may be a windows problem that i can't solve...differences in the batch file processing in your windows...
or Command Extensions turned off.... type %cmdextversion% at cmd prompt to see if so...

now usually it says the filesize, and if it's not over a gigabyte, it just says 'that file is gigabytes'...i fixed that for next release...
but it doesn't mean anything is worng, but it does tell me that the file you fed it is less than a gig. so that doesn't sound right..check the dvd-que and see if the right file is in there and if it's ok...

latest version fixed the files too big problem so unless that 1 file is too big for dvd it should only remove last one...
[but obviously if the only file you add is too big it will remove whole list]

look at those and try running it in command line mode...
[add = burndvd.bat add "file.mpg"
burn = burndvd.bat
remove= burndvd.bat remove
delete list= burndvd.bat removeall]

let me know what you see then...
oh and maybe poost your dvd-que file.. [unless nothing in it]

Ancient thread I know, but I still haven't got this to work.

I have now installed the latest version 2.5 on the latest version of GB-PVR and MCE 2005.

The first few lines in burndvd.bat are:

@echo off
cls
rem ************************* Changing Working Directory!
cd /d C:\Programme\devnz\gbpvr\showburner\
set sbdir=C:\Programme\devnz\gbpvr\showburner\
:: showbdi.r
set ffmpeg=C:\Programme\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\FFmpeg\ffmpeg.exe

My dvd-que is
"D:\Video\Winnie Puuh feiert Weihnachten\Winnie Puuh feiert Weihnachten_20061208_20152115.mpg"

On a blank dvd, I select "burn dvd", the transcoding pop-up appears, ImgBrn starts almost immediately and writes a few mb of something to disc. The disc gets ejected, but there are no files on in -- just an Audio_ts and a video_ts folder.

These 2 folders are also in my directory "D:\ShoBrner" (my output folder for showburner) and are also empty.

Any ideas?
Thanks

O.k. Nothing like being stupid :-)

It would appear that the reason it stopped working was because I fed it different files which I hadn't edited.

When I run the files through VideoRedo and then burn them it seems to work fine.

I normally use my Nova-T for recording because I thought it saved the stream in dvd-compliant format -- apparently not. If anyone knows if it is possible to tweak something to get a dvd-comliant mpg - please let me know.

If you read this pBS -- I'm in PAL land, it works, thank you
