I for a while I have been getting the following error when I try and update my EPG through Zap2it. I have been looking through the forums and haven't found anything that will fix it. I have reinstalled the .net framework a couple of times and done a couple of other things to no avail. If you need any more information than let me know.

The usual cause of this error is a firewall getting in the way.

Hmm, I turned off windows firewall and tried to update again but I got the same error. Thanks for the quick response though.

We had the same problem here. We solved the problem by using a modem dialup connection that has a much smaller latency delay than the satellite Internet connection.

This was tested on two separate computers with two separate installations of GBPVR. They updated just fine on cable and modem dialup, but not via Hughes satellite service.

Is there way you could increase the timeout period on downloading the EPG to accommodate satellite latency?

Thanks very much!

Not that I know of - I just use all the .net defaults.

I wouldnt think your latency should be that big. Maybe an additional half second before it starts streaming the response, then should be pretty fast. Any timeouts for this will be in minutes, not milliseconds.

I am also using satellite as an Internet connection. I see the same error when trying to update with zap2it. I wasn't sure if it was a setup error on my part or not. I have all firewall settings turned off as well. I am using NAT on a router, but that's all.
