Client/Server issues

So this weekend I decided to try to attempt setting up a client to my main living room HTPC. Both are running 99.12. Have all necessary decoders and have opened all necessary ports for Windows Firewall (no other software firewall running). At first i attempted running the client by streaming. I was able to connect and begin a recording playback, but after about 5 sec of playback, it crashed my server (the client stopped responding too, but system worked fine). I had to hard boot my server to get it back up and running. However it seemed to bonk my network controller and had to go through the process of reinstalling that.

I then attempted again with file sharing. all proper folders had sharing enabled and set in the config. I fired up the client and i could navigate GBPVR fine. However as soon as i started a recording, i got 2 sec of playback, then crash. I went downstairs to find that my server BSOD'd. Fatal error that appeared to be from a lack of available memory and was attemtping to dump. Again i had to hard boot to get up and running.

Ive attached my logs. I am getting through okay so i know it is not the network, but it is like the recording playback across the network just sucks my server memory dry.

ServerPC: AMD x2 3800+, 1g Corsair VS (2x512), 300g seagate HD, MSI microatx mobo (6150 chipset-socket 939), HP pvr150MCE, ATI 550pro.

CleintPC: AMD Opt 165, 2g Corsair XMS, 300g seagate HD, Biostar TforceSLI mobo, Nvidia 7900GT.

zip and attach the client and server logs and I'll take a look. It you're getting a BSOD though, this make me think a driver problem, or a hardware instability (maybe flaky memory?).

My server only has 512MB of ram.

Actually now that you say that I believe the BSOD did mention driver somewhere in the lines of otherwise meaningless crap.

The logs in my first post are from the client.

Here are the logs from the server. If it is a driver issue then is there a way to hammer down which driver? I am assuming it being a network driver issue. Id hate to have to play musical chairs with my network adaptors but Id love to get TV going in my bedroom again since I moved.

Often the text of the error will identfy the driver or module. If you're luck you'll find the text from these crashes in the Windows Event Viewer.

My pvr used to randomly reboot, but after using a memory dump I narrowed it down to a tv card driver so updated and I thought I fixed that. But a few days later another crash but this time it was a different tv card's driver so I rolled back the driver and so far no crash. If you have issues use dumpchk and windlg to troubleshoot. Do a google on how to use them.

yaay windbag its nice if you can have a second machine hooked up to a serial port, so you can debug live thats how we do things at work... but havent had to do it at home, never had an issue that bad.

After using all the newest version os gbpvr, I finally got my client/server setup working. Using streaming, and with GBPRV 98.13 which is the last version that does not die on channel change for me.

well, i've got it working to an extent. In streaming it is horribly choppy and hangs the machine after about 15sec. When set to file sharing, the video appears to play fine but command responses are incredibly slow. If i do a shortskip on a video, it executes after about 20 sec. also i am unable to access the epg for some reason. Just causes GBPVR to hang.

Gonna keep experimenting. Getting there though.
