First of all, let me say I am very impressed with the product. I've been a user of MCE and MP, and I have to say the ease with which I got gbpvr running was impressive. Now on to my noob questions

1. In MCE while watching a recording I can hit the info button and bring up a menu with which to delete the recording. Or when selecting a recording / video (highlight hit ok) it brings up a small menu t play / delete, etc. GBPVR simply plays it. Is there such a menu available?

2. I cant seem to be able to delete a video / recording. I see the delete menu item, but I like to have icon / folder view instead of a list view. In list view I can highlight the video and move left and hit delete. In folder / icon view I can't get back to the delete button while maintaining the correct selection.

3. Sometimes while watching tv I end up back at the main menu (by pressing something wrong on the remote), or because I wanted to switch to another panel briefly. If I click on the small window where my show is playing with the mouse it switches back to full screen. However I cant seem to navigate there with the remote.

4. Finally, is there a way to map the power button on the remote to start / stop GBPVR. Right now it still launches MCE. Hauppauge 45 button remote.

Thanks to all. I'm sure I'll have more questions as I continue to use this.

GB-PVR doesnt have a popup menu providing this feature while watching a recording.

In the Recordings screen, pressing OK on an recording will popup a screen to allow you to play/delete etc.

This is a known limitation of using the icon view. I may fix one day, but dont count on it Big Grin

If you'd pressed the 'i' (or 'home' or 'menu') button on your remote, it'll switch to window mode. You can get back to fullscreen video pressing the same key again.

There isnt a built in feature, but some people use HIP (MCE remote) to irremote.ini (hauppauge remote) to do this. If you do a forum search you'll find details of doing this.

Ok...love it works great with recordings but not with videos...how hard would it be to provide the same option with videos (I took my many MCE recorded shows and imported them into GBPVR

I got the power button working by editing irremote.ini and adding the following:
under the [default] section
;GRNPOWER={run("C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.exe")}
GRNPOWER={run("C:\gbpvr.lnk")}
Note: I had to create a shortcut link in my c:\ folder to gbpvr.exe as I could not get ir.exe to accept "Program Files"

under the [GB-PVR] section add:
GRNPOWER={alt}{f4}

Now for me the icing would be if there was some way to fire up the shutdown plugin and cause the system to shutdown with the power button. Smile

Also...how does one go about stopping a recording? I was watching livetv and hit record...then I wanted to stop the recording so I hit "stop" and it didn't stop recording just went back to the menu.

To be honest, I'm probably not going to change it.

You can stop recordings from the Recordings screen pending list.

howudodat,

Just to let you know, I took you advice and added the power button control under the [default] section as well, with the following change:

GRNPOWER={run(C:\Progra~1\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.exe)}

No quotes, and no need to add the shortcut link!

Peter

I use this to bring gbpvr in focus if it's not.
GRNPOWER={run(c:\Progra~1\devnz\GBPVR\GBPVR.exe)}{ sleep(750)}{FindWnd(GBPVRWndClass,)}{fgnwn d()}
