ok, I am a total newbie at this.

I got the hauppauge 1600 hd with a remote today and installed gb-pvr and I got it set up pretty good. The only problem is that my goal is to have my system to be used soley as a tv/entertainment device and when I boot up I don't want to have to use a keyboard or mouse just the remote....

So, I would love to know how to program 2 extra buttons on the remote to turn gb-pvr on and off.

I tried event ghost with the gb-pvr plug in but it said "gb-pvr not found", and I have no Idea where to go from there.

I am using windows xp.

Hi,

You can edit the Hauppauge irremote.ini file to make it control pretty much whatever you please; if you search through this forum or google this file name you'll find lots of help I'm sure- I haven't used the Hauppauge remote in a while so can't remember the exact details I'm afraid.

IN the default section of irremote.ini, I have the following line to start up GBPVR.
irremote.ini is located in your windows dir

GRNPOWER={run(c:\Progra~1\devnz\GBPVR\GBPVR.exe)}{ sleep(750)}{FindWnd(GBPVRWndClass,)}{fgnwn d()}

However, I don't think that the Hauppauge remote will bring the pc out of standby or hibernation. At least I could never get it working.

I use an MCE remote and it will bring my server pc out of standby, however, it won't bring my old shuttle box out of standby.

I use a USBUIRT and a program called lrnhelper to resume from hibernate/standby... But I'm not sure if it works for other remotes. Is the remote sensor plugged into a usb port or is it attached to the pci card? You have to be able to leave that device on during standby/hibernate or it will not be able to send any signals to the processor to turn the computer back on. Unfortunately its very difficult to get this working properly.

I was about to create a new message about this topic, but then my search found this. I have edited my irremote.ini to change GBPVR functions without a hitch, but I could not exactly find where to put in this function in the default section. Is there anyway someone could tell me what the GRNPOWER= said before it is changed to the above. Also maybe knowing what the default section says would help me find it.

Thanks,
John

Tried the command (had to delete the other reference to the power command) but it worked great! Thanks again!

For something that is so simple, I spent hours and still couldn't figure this out. It's amazing how much time can be saved when you just find out the simple answer.

The section name is
[Default]

I think it used to say
GRNPOWER={sys(0xF060)}

Just scroll down until you find the [default] section, then look about 10 lines beyond that and you should find the old grnpower setting. If there isn't anything, just put it in [default] wherever. You have to stop and restart the irremote application as well.
