I have Vista Premium, I have the HDHomerun using QAM.

I have 2 tuners set up right now the Hauppauge 250 for analog and the HDHomerun for HD.

If I go into GB-PVR and test in the TV Guide my analogs channels display fine, Video and Sound.

If try my HD channels I get Video but no sound.

Under VLC it works fine (although I did have to change the video out put mode - before I was getting sound with a frozen video in VLC).

hmmm.. Not familiar with it. Since it is Creative Labs, it should be able to decode AC-3 but you may want to try a different decoder just in case. It may also be possible that there is a setting somewhere that tells the CL decoder to output AC-3 over the the SPDIF interface (maybe?).

I think whurlston was correct and your dont have an AC3 capable decoder installed. Try installing AC3Filter.

I'll do that... uh do I aquire one, I have PowerDVD and other DVD apps I've haven't put on the system yet.

I also decided to replace the Sound card with a more current, as it is the Game port on the SBlive isn't supported in vista and show up in the device manager with a problem - it may never cause a problem, but better safe then sorry.

just do a search for AC3Filter. It is an opensource decoder that you can get off the sourceforge website or many others.

I had the same problem, and thanks to the advice of the forum, I installed AC3Filter (like they already mentioned Wink ) and it fixed the problem. http://ac3filter.net/
