I've made this sticky (closed) thread to post useful information about problems that may arise, or to get useful tips out there. I'll add more information to this thread as we start to get feedback from this new release. If anyone has info they feel should be included here, please PM me.

Recording service crashing
NOD32, Panda Antivirus, WebRunner and Net Limiter (and some other software) are known to be incompatible with .NET 2.0 Remoting, which is used by GB-PVR. If any of these apps are installed on your machine, they will cause the Recording Service crash, so they may need to be uninstalled before installing this update. Its possible you may just be able to set an exclusion of the GBPVRRecordingService.exe process - but I'm not sure if this is possible with all these apps.

To help you identify if you have this problem, when the recording service crashes, the following message is at the end of the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log file:

Code:
9/4/2006 3:02:39 PM.625 ERROR [7] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION:: [b]System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory[/b]. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
at System.Net.UnsafeNclNativeMethods.OSSOCK.WSAGetOverlappedResult(SafeCloseSocket socketHandle, IntPtr overlapped, UInt32& bytesTransferred, Boolean wait, IntPtr ignored)
at [b]System.Net.Sockets.BaseOverlappedAsyncResult[/b].Compl etionPortCallback(UInt32 errorCode, UInt32 numBytes, NativeOverlapped* nativeOverlapped)
at System.Threading._IOCompletionCallback.PerformIOCo mpletionCallback(UInt32 errorCode, UInt32 numBytes, NativeOverlapped* pOVERLAP)

UPDATE: Microsoft now has a hot fix available for this common incompatibility between firewall software and the .NET 2.0 Remoting. You can read about here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923028/en-us and download the hotfix from http://www.gbpvr.com/Hotfix_Net2_KB923028.zip

Choice of MVP dongle.bin on Vista
This release includes the Hauppauge 1.1.47 dongle.bin, which will work well for Windows XP and Windows 2000 users, but unfortunately has issues with Vista. Hauppauge are currently investigating these issues. While Hauppauge tries to sort this out, the best option for Vista users is to use the mvpmc dongle from: http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/donglex2a.zip

Download this file and extract the file to the "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\dongle" directory, then briefly remove the power from the MVP to force it to reinitialise itself.

QAM support on HVR1600
Some users have had problems with the release not detecting their digital cable QAM channels when scanning. A patch to resolve this issue can be found here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...stcount=38

MVP not connecting? or not playing video?
Several users have found their MVP is either not starting, or it is slow to start and when it does start, it does not play video. This is caused by a firewall getting in the way, usually the Windows firewall. The MVP server executable is PVRX2.exe now, so any previous firewall exclusions setup for the old GBPVR.exe server will not help. The same exclusions need to be made for PVRX2.exe. Often the Windows Firewall will not prompt to inform you that PVRX2.exe is trying to use the network - and will just deny access automatically.

Delete in Video Library & delete/cancel prompt in Recording
For those trying the new PVRX2 user interface and find they cant live without the delete button in Video Library, or the "are you sure you want to delete/cancel this recording" prompt in the Recordings screen, you can get this functionality back with this patch: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=9

Using GB-PVR on a second monitor
The 'start on second monitor' option was removed in this release due to issues with many devices being unable to support the required hardware acceleration on a secondary device. Due to popular demand, I've now done the work to make it possible to use a second monitor. The patch to enable this can be found at: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...stcount=37

Whether this results in a smooth UI and smooth video playback or not will depend on the capabilities of your videocard and its drivers.

Recording high definition ATSC .mpg files
A patch has been released which should improve ATSC compatibility with the Cyberlink and ATI muxes. Using either of these muxes in combination with the patch should allow you to record directly to a .mpg file. You can get the patch here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...stcount=30

Problems changing channels but channel number in live tv
A problem has been raised in the few threads relating to changing channels in live tv by typing a channel number. When this happened, the channel could change to the new channel several times, which could make the channel change look slow, or produce a short period of stuttering, and could make it seem like the 'switch to previous channel' key wasnt working. You can get the patch here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=7
