That log file just shows you attempting to change channels on the analog side of this device. It stays on the original channel because you're trying to tell it to change to invalid channel numbers for an analog tuner (240, 236 etc). US valid channel numbers on an analog tuner are 2-125.

As I suggested above, this is happening because you've got channels enabled in your analog capture source that you dont really receive via the analog side of this device.

That makes sense! Does that mean that I can only overlay the Digital QAM channels over existing Analog channels that my cable tv provider offers? In other words, I currently receive the local CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX channels in both Analog and Digital QAM signals over the cable. However, using the "MAP DIGITAL CHANNELS TO EPG" I can overlay the HI-DEF Digital QAM signal on top of the Analog signal to view the better digital quality broadcast, is that right?

On my Sony LCD HDTV it tunes many channels like 111.1, 33.3, 105.1, etc. However, these channels are represented as channel numbers above 125, ie. 240, 241, and up, in the EPG. I believe this is done to map to the cable provider's Set Top Box channel numbers. Anyway, is there a method to map these higher-than-125 channel numbers into the EPG Guide? I tried using bogus channel numbers on the CHANNELS tab in Config.exe, but that didn't work. It would just attempt to tune the bogus analog channel number.

Your digital channels should be separate from your analog channels. If you are using the same EPG source for both, then the channels that are mapped on the digital side should be disabled on the analog side.

For example: if your EPG source has the following:

(3) WNBC
(4) WABC
(5) WCBS
(243) WNBC-DT
(244) WABC-DT
(245) WCBS-DT

Then your analog source should have the following channels enabled (ones not listed should be disabled/unchecked):
(3) WNBC
(4) WABC
(5) WCBS

and your digital source should have the following enabled and mapped:
(243) WNBC-DT
(244) WABC-DT
(245) WCBS-DT

Then you choose the appropriate one you want to watch/record (analog or digital).

Whurlston,

Thank you! You found the source of my digital tuning problems. I am using the same EPG source for both the analog and the digital channels. I checked and found that the Digital Channels were indeed enabled on the analog side. After disabling the DT channels on the analog side, everything is working fine now.

Thanks again.

as an earlier poster had this problem i wondered if someone else has found a work around for:

Code:
2009-06-03 22:54:52.732    ERROR    Failed to start BDA Graph
2009-06-03 22:54:52.732    VERBOSE    ERROR_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED

since everyone else suggested that the device was being accessed by something else and thus was holding a lock on it, i thought i would disable the windows media center services to see if that would help. still it didn't work for me.

another curious note is that neither "aver mediacenter" or "avertv 6" work for me. both of them crash immediately when i try to start them. on the other hand windows media center works perfectly fine and gets all the clear qam channels. of course, i would much rather use gbpvr being that it's way more configurable.

yes another curious notes is that a previous poster named Bobb1300 seems to be exactly in the same location as me. he has comcast cable and has the same channel line up that I have. I guess we both live in the susquahanna valley in PA, USA. a reidiculous coincedence.

anyway i was wondering what operating systems you guys have that got this to work. i'm using vista ultimate x64. the other person who had this problem was using vista business. the few people who've reported it working don't ever list their OS. i'm tempted to install xp and try it out.

any ideas, sorry to revive a cold thread...
