Hi,

everytime I start Musiclibrary and select playlist it will reset the MVP. The second time it let me see the playlist. If I then select a small playlist it sometimes resets the MVP when I select RANDOM. If I select a larger playlist (m3u) then it usually resets the MVP. After a few times 3 - 5 times it will play the playlist and let me select RANDOM.

Has anyone else the same experiance? Do I need to reinstall the Musiclibrary and clean up configs and that sort of thing? Do I nuke the lib and rescan?

It's annoying nothing more. The program works so I can play my music.

The standard GBPVR Musiclibrary does not let me shuffle from a folder and then selects all subfolders beneath it for the random list. Musiclibrary does so in my case it is the better program.

Thanks in advance for any tips...

I have the same problem, though I have not done as extensive testing as you have. I noticed a MVP restart when pressing random (red) in a playlist of only one artist, however, adding another artist and random works. I am very new to MVP (installed my first one yesterday) so I am glad to see that it does not seem to be anything wrong with my MVP.

I think I do have an issue with the MVP and random. It's the way I regenerate the playlist - I think the MVP takes exception with that and so resets.

But I thought I was just to do with randomising a current playlist. I didn't realise that just selecting one had a similar problem.

I'll try and look into it..

No rush tnx for the reply. I'll check the forum for any tips... Great program by the way.

Extra info you might need: When the playlist (M3U) is large (about 1000 filenames) it resets a few times before it gets it right. Smaller playlist (M3U) works usually after the second crash.

The pathname in the M3U file is like this : \\HOLLY\MY DOCUMENTS\MY MUSIC\ARTIST\SONG.MP3

But I don't think that is the problem. In previous versions I did not have that problem (GBPV 99.5 with Musiclibrary 5.x)

Again tnx for looking into it...

For testing use with mvpmc on an mvp, I created a 2300 file m3u on a network with \\ip\sharename format and It took about 1/2 an hour to load with audio cutting in and out throughout. I guess that searching the non-existent cover art and reading the id3 tags really takes a toll on the NAS.

Shorter 10-100 file list loaded but not instantly, and as you mentioned random play doesn't seem to work.

for now I gave up on the random thing. It seems to crash all the time. I also see strange #jkLP08HS# names show up in the playlist now. When I delete them the other M3U list are emptied.

So it is getting stranger and stranger. Maybe flush the Library and let it rescan everything? Will do that and keep you posted...

I'm thinking of a workaround for the random function for now. A simple program like this:

rem scan folder structure with
dir <music folder>*.* /s/b ><playlist folder>playlist.m3u

rem then to hussle the lines in the playlist.m3u not sure how to do that yet

Run this every night before the new scan from Music Library2

Just a thought...
