It has to do with the response to keyboard (remote) key-strokes.
For example, say you are in the main menu, and you hit quickly 3 times down-arrow.
It will sometimes move only two items down (depends how fast you hit). But what makes it worse, is that you will hear 3 response clicks, as if it did move 3 times down.
It's like it doesn't have a buffer of key-strokes - if it didn't finish the move (with the "animation"), then the rest of the movements are lost.

Do you understand what I mean?

It throws away keys received during animations, because starting the next animation while the first is still progress makes a horrible mess.

I've noticed this too and, while it's minor, it tends to slow down your movement through the interface. My only suggestion would be rather than ignoring input during animations, you could queue up the incoming keystrokes in a buffer and process them one at a time as the animations finish.

I'm sure that would have it's own set of challenges though... and again, this is very minor.

I considered that, but it wasnt going to be as straight forward as it sounds, so it throws them away instead.

A) I also expected the queue behavior, and would favor that. Obviously I don't know the complexity involved.
B) At least, don't make the click-sound when a key is not processed. This adds to the confusion as it's another feedback that feels like the key was actually received (and will be processed) when it's not.
