Sub-

I am building a new W2K client machine and decided to start from scratch. These are the steps I followed:
  • FDisk and reformat hard-drive
  • Install W2k
  • Install SP4
  • Installed .NET 1.1
  • Installed .NET 2.0
  • Applied .net fix (vcredist_x86.zip)
  • Installed GBPVR 1.0.16
The install worked clean up to the point where the config.exe program is launched. It comes up with the following error. If you click continue, the config dialog comes up without the screenshot and all the config entries seem to be missing.

Any ideas?

I dont test anything on Win2k, so not sure of the exact requirements, but from what I've seen in posts from Win2K users in the past you'll probably find you need to upgrade WMP and install the DirectX9 runtime.

Yes. WMP9 works for me.

Yep, I was missing upgrade to DirectX9c (I was thinking 9b was installed). Upgraded off of Windows Update and voila, it worked! Thanks...

I don't know about the OP but I run Win2k because:
There is no DRM and I can record and archive anything I can view.
Needs no reactivation when I upgrade hardware or software.
Supports all my hardware; Hauppauge tuners, Hollywood Plus, MyHD MDP-130.
Auto updates never kill working applications.
Never crashes. (I have a Hauppauge PVR250 set up on a machine that has run 24/7 for 4 years.
Interfaces with my PJ and A/V systems to my satisfaction.
(it even runs sub's new interface)

If it does everything I need it to do and doesn't break, why would I change?

I have several different hard drives I swap in and out depending on what I am working on, and I also rebuild my systems on a regular basis (roughly every 6-9 months). MS made it hard to do this with XP because of the registration, so I've kinda stuck with W2K for my development machines to keep it easy (and cheaper Smile )
