Multiple hauppauge tuners (not a GB-PVR question!)

Ive just installed a HVR-4000 which claims its quad tuner - but from sum of the stuff ive read on here - you can pretty much rule out the analogue tuner. Is this true - what are NZ peoples experiences with this card?

i havent been game to test it yet - but can you record off the DVB-S and DVB-T simultaneously?

Im considering getting a 2nd HVR-4000 so then in theory ill have 2 sources for DVB-S/S2 and 2 for DVB-T

Its quad mode, in that it can be used for analog, DVB-T, DVB-S and DVB-S2. Not at the same time though. You can only do one of the DVB's at a time.

Correct. GB-PVR only supports analog cards that have a hardware MPEG2 encoder. This card doesnt on the analog side.

So does gbpvr know when a certain function (i.e. dvb-s) is already being used on the hvr-4000, so if a request came in to record dvb-t it would choose the other hvr-4000?

Or would i have to do something with the capture source order?

From my experiences so far i believe that GBPVR would treat the DVB-S and DVB-T side of the same physical card be treated as 2 separate 'virtual' cards in esssence... thus it wouldnt really know that the DVB-S side is in use if you went ot use the DVB-T.

Would the way around it be to stagger the capture sources or something?

Id just hate to have a program schedule conflict if GBPVR tried to record off DVB-S and DVB-T at the same time.
