Here are my logs. Not really sure the frequencies that are in trouble, as they do not report on the bad channels. However, looking at the preview screen (QAM is using frequencies ratehr than channels), I see some hints:

One group is between unknowns at 781250 and 787250
another btween 787250 and 790250. A large group at the end, after 798250.

I am also including my QAM.ini file so these make more sense.

The QAM file is modified channels 126 to 133 per Sub on another posting.

Thanks
Chuck

sub, the "0" channel number is actually quite commonly used by cable companies in the PAT/PMT/TVCT/CVCT (sorry can't recall off the top of my head where the info is). Is it possible to add something to a future release so that when this happens the channel/program number is used to create the virtual channel number?

I posted teh wrong logs. These should have the scans in them. New at this, so I have not learned to read the logs.

yeah i figured that a few posts ago. this kind of sucks when the scan shows 397 channels.
but the change the did was
T:108,108,1~P:12~V:64~A:65~PMT:71~N:>108.1
to
T:108,1008,0~P:12~V:64~A:65~PMT:71~N:>0 (000(AC3))

all the clear qam channels now use the 1008

Anybody know how to read, or where to read, scan results for AverMedia? If I could look at what was found there (all known channels in HD and SD), I could skip the whole scan in GBpvr and manually enter my tuning. However, Aver reports the findings as channel.subchannel, and gbpvr needs frequencies for QAM. Or, if there is a conversion table somewhere for frequencies-to-channels (or vice versa) for QAM in the US. I have not found it yet...

So, I have a complete list from Aver in terms of channels, but not freqs.

I tried entering a channel or two manually, but that did not seem to do the trick. From Aver, I only have two numbers, whereas the manual tuning on gb needs 3.

According to whurlston earlier in this thread, that second number (the 1008) has to be there, but does nothave to be accurate.

look in C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\BDA for the .cache file and open it with notepad

Yes, thanks, that Cache file is MUCH easier to read. I am posting it here, clear to see the issue with same name, different freqs.

However, I really want to see the corresponding file from AverMedia, so I can pull those freqs for manual tuning. Perhaps not needed, but it may make life easier, since that one found channels distictly.

I am also going to try to re-scan this using the original QAM file. It occurs to me I may not have scanned that one AFTER running AverMediaCenter, which now seems needed to initialize the drivers.

Thanks

I am re-scanning with the original QAM file (channels instead of frequencies), after having run Aver Media Center. It looks like it is picking up the same channels, so one step in the right direction.

However, the numbering scheme is different than Aver, and Aver picks up a few more channels.

For example, gb picks up ABC HD as follows, from the cache file:

T:113,7,1~P:7~V:33~A:35~PMT:32~N:>7.1 ABC HD (000(AC3))

IN another program (I've tried so many, now I cannot remember. I thought it was AverMedia, but I cannot duplicate. I have written notes) it came up as 113.92.

Now, here is the rub. The other program came up with two, 94.72 and 94.71, that GB does not seem to find. Is there any way I can translate such numbers to GB formats?

Ahh. Here it is. It was Aver TV 6. The media center comes up with 69 and 70, so it is probably translating in some way.

Any thoughts? Since I have these numbers, I could manually tune, if I knew how to translate.

Attaching the Cache file and the two config logs. I can make a list of all teh Aver cahnnels and coorespond them to the GB, but bottom line is where Aver found them, GB did too except the 94.71 and 94.72.

Thanks

Wait Wait Wait!

The 94.1 and 94.2, though labeled "unknown", work. Hmm. I had only been looking at the ones that don't say "unknown", because they seemed to be the only ones that actually worked.

So, with that, I can set up tuning parameters, map to tv guide, and should be all done!

So, if anyone has any idea on why I have to run AverMediaCenter first to get the card initialized (otherwise it will not work at all in GB), it sure would help.

Thanks
Chuck
