Severe MVP problems

My Setup:
GB-PVR 1.8L with MediaMVP server
MVP running the 2.0 (non beta) hauppauge software.
Windows XP SP1
1.2ghz athlon
256mb ram
Hauppauge PVR250
NVidia GeForce2 Ultra
100mb wired network
-------------------------------

My symptoms:
Essentially, I can predictably break the GB-PVR MediaMVP server program by pressing the Stop, Menu, or Back/Exit buttons on the MVP remote while watching recording or live tv.

When I do this, the screen goes black, I see the green (stop) icon in the top right corner for a second, then all black screen and nothing responds.
I restart the MVP using the remote, and the GB-PVR menu comes up but doesn't respond to anything.
At this point, the GB-PVR MediaMVP Server program is still visibly running, but I have to shut it down and restart it.
Then I can restart the MVP and everything works again.  Until I want to exit out of a recording or live tv.

Needless to say, this is a pain.

Also,
-The skip button doesn't do anything while watching recordings or live tv. Just pressing it, or typing a number beforehand, doesn't matter.
-The RR/FW buttons don't work during live TV.  They don't do anything.

I have a feeling my last two problems are a result of the MVP not being well aware of where it is in the MPEG.  Whenever I see the progress dialog, it always shows 0:00 and no progress.

Everything works as expected on the PC, however.  I know sub owes me nothing.  In fact, I wish this was open source so I could lend a hand.  For now, I'm just curious if anyone else has these problems.  Is there an MVP firmware upgrade I've missed or something?

Thanks,
Jesse

Users had reported similar problems to these when they had left one of the two original Hauppauge MVP services run. I stop both using the Start -> All Programs -> Hauppauge MediaMVP -> Stop icon.

Also, your MVP needs to be running an up to date dongle.bin, so make sure you have the latest MVP software from shspvr.com. After installing, make sure you remove the power from the back of the MVP to force a reload of the dongle.

FF/RW/Skip is disabled on the MVP in LiveTV for v0.18, but should for the most part work for playback of existing video files. FF/RW/etc for LiveTV were available in previous releases, but I ran out of time to fix a problem before the v0.18 release - so disabled this feature. It is has been fixed and reenabled for the next release, and these has also been several improvements to the FF/RW reliability. There has also been improvements to starting/reconnecting the MVP in the next release.

These improvements sound great. The FW/RW problems are the only thing keeping me from using GBPVR as my fulltime MVP client. Need a beta tester? [Image: smile.gif]

sub, thanks.  I knew the functionality was all there and I was missing something.  I did have the hauppauge tftp server running.  Stopping it fixed it, as you said.

Hi Graeme,

Any update on when we can expect a new release.  I am anxious to try out the improvements to FF/RW on the MVP.

Thanks.

I had hoped to do it this weekend, but I'm having to do a bit of overtime at work at the moment so not finding the required hours. It'll most likely be next weekend.
