Pause mpg video = crash

Very odd - Have been using 1.1.5 without any problems whatsoever, it has been so stable, but tonight I have what may be a new problem - or perhaps I didn't notice it before:
Playing any mpg recording or file, if it is paused I cannot get it to start again! This is true in GBPVR & PVRX2, and using any decoder...
When it happens the app freezes - CPU usage 0 - and the only way out is to end the process (or reset the PC if using FSE). Because the app is freezing nothing is appearing in the logs, nor is there anything in Event viewer.
Sometimes happens using FF or RW too, but not always.
I have attached logs though I don't think they help.

I was having a similar problem that I solved by selecting System Defaults for all three options in Playback | Software MPEG-2 Playback.

I have no idea why it worked but it did.

Well I was on the wrong track trying different video decoders - it was caused by the Nvidia AUDIO decoder. I suppose the fact that the same thing was happening with all video decoders should have made me try this first!
Anyway it works fine with any other audio decoder - but I am still puzzled as to why the Purevideo audio decoder started causing this problem, as I have been using it for months and never had an issue. Might try reinstalling it...

I am suspecting that the latest 'security' updates for XPSP2 have caused this problem with Purevideo - I downloaded all the security updates two days ago (I don't allow updates to install automatically), but I see now that they contained a couple of big changes to media player - and a new version of Quartz.dll! Interesting to see if anyone else had a problem with these MS updates...

For me the worst kind of computer problems are those that appear 'by magic' and one cannot trace the reason.:eek:

I could not resolve the problem of PVRX2 and GBPVR locking-up when pausing any recording or mpg file, when using Purevideo for the audio decoder.

I spent hours and hours - uninstalled all MS updates, downloaded G-spot and DSFmanager, reinstalled GBPVR and Purevideo, mucked around with merits...
Just could not work out why my GBPVR, having worked flawlessly since the upgrade to 1.1.5, suddenly got this problem.:confused:
I was about to do a full restore from a ghost image, but in the end have come to my senses and just decided not to use Purevideo any more. It was always a problem with gbpvr prior to 1.1.5, and I think it was a fluke it worked for a while without issues.

It still puzzles me why Purevideo works fine with media player (classic & latest), and playing DVD's in GBPVR still works fine using Purevideo for audio and video.

But even Nvidia have stopped work on Purevideo as a stand-alone product, and many users of other HTPC software like Myth and Sage seem to have issues too, going by forum threads.

The only reason I was using Purevideo was because of its good handling of dolby surround from DVB-T broadcasts and DVD's. But FFdshow does these too. So now using ffdshow for audio. Only problem now is lip-sync, as when using ffdshow it seems to me that it is not 100%.
