Sub do you have any ideas? Recorded shows play with 5.1 correctly but not live TV. Both FFDSHOW and AC3 FILTER show sound for the center channel in the volume display.
No I dont. We dont have 5.1 sound on our TV here in New Zealand, so its not really something I have a lot of experience with.
There is nothing GB-PVR is doing that would stop it happening though. It should pretty much just come down to your audio decoder, its settings, and the your audio device setup.
have you tired setting the audio decoder while playing live tv
you have to do it in windowed mode if using fse. Switch to vmr custom while doing this
also try the setting in config where it says use encoder pass through (last tab for live tv)

Tried it to no avail. I think both of those settings only affect video.
I got FFDshow doing it the other day. I use a single SPDIF between my HTPC and my amp, and my amp has a light that comes on when it's decoding, and also has a display of how many speakers are active. I got the amp to start decoding and it showed 5.1 sound but the volume was like half level compared to sending PCM sound straight through and when I used the encoding FFDshow to adjust the volume to even it out, it sounded terrible. I keep the 5.1 sound for DVDs and so on, but as for other media(videos, mp3s, and TV), I just leave it how it was, and thats usually how it sounds the best.
