At one time I had GBPVR set up and working pretty well, but when I went to record a program earlier this week, I just got static, and I discovered that the channel mapping with the TV Guide was completely messed up. Some channels were just static, while multiple other channels were all mapped to the same one (I got the same program even when I was changing channels). I went through the Config and checked the mapping for the QAM tuner, and it was all fine there. I used the preview to verify that it was tuning to the correct stations. So I updated the EPG again, and rebooted the PC and restarted GBPVR again. Now I find that Live TV is tuning to the correct channels, but when I use the TV Guide to watch shows, I am still getting the wrong channels sometimes. What could be going on here? I thought Live TV and TV Guide would use the same channel mapping, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Any ideas on how to fix this?

There were two changes that I made to my system since the last time the TV Guide was correct. One was that I moved the directory for the EPG (I'm using YApi2XML). The EPG update failed a few times until I remembered that I needed to change the directory for the XML file, but now it's working correctly. The other change was replacing the video card in my PC. I don't think either of these should have caused a problem with the channel mapping, but who knows?

These problems arent to do with your QAM capture source. It relates to your analog capture source. It most likely means that you have channels enable in your analog capture source that are either outside the tunable range of an analog tuner (causing the tuner to stay on the last valid channel), or have channels enable that dont exist on analog (causing static).

The reason I thought it was related to QAM was because I was getting that same channel display while going through various QAM (HD) channels. My analog capture source is only set to tune to analog channels; I removed the check boxes for all of the digital channels and assigned them to the QAM tuner. I'll double-check that tonight, but unless they mysteriously reset themselves since I checked the other night, I don't think that's the cause of the problem.

Also, if the analog channel setup was the problem, why would it work in Live TV correctly and only be messed up on the TV Guide?

The reason I know it was analog is because its only possible to get static/snow on an analog tuner. To get snow on the digital tuner, the broadcaster would have to be broadcasting MPEG2 encoded video of static, otherwise you'll just get a black screen and a 'no signal' message. You comment about channels appearing to stay on the same channels, also supported this theory, since the most common cause of this is when a user is view an analog channel and trying to change to a channel outside the valid range (2-125 for the US). In this scenario the tuner just ignores the request and stays on the current channels, while GB-PVR updates to the screen to show the OSD for the channel it thought it changed to.

If you reproduce the problem, then post your PVRX2.exe.log and PVRX2.exe-native.log, I'm happy to double check for you.

It can depend what channel you start on. GB-PVR will prefer to stick with that tuner when changing channels unless you try to change to a channel not available on that tuner.
