Slo-Mo HD (and possible memory leak?)

Ever since I updated to the current version of GB-PVR I've been having an odd problem when playing back downloaded HD video. If I have recently restarted the computer, or GB-PVR the video will play fine. If however the computer and program has been running for say 48 or more playing HD quality video is a mess. The audio is still ok but the video slows to a crawl. If I restart the computer, or as I later discovered PVRX2 I can then play the video back just fine. I'm concerned that there is a memory issue as when the problem occurs pulling up the task manager will usually list PVRX2 using something in the neighborhood of 350megs of ram!

I've tried already updating video drivers, and trying different codecs, and I've done a repair install of GBPVR, all to no avail, so I'm hoping someone else has encountered the same problem. =)

I should add that if I minimize GBPVR and open up the same file in say Windows media player, it will run just fine. Go back to GBPVR, still slow, until I restart the program.

Nothing springs to mind. I've not noticed the same thing here, though admittedly we dont have HD in our country yet.

Maybe see if using a different video decoder helps.

Hi, I have exactly the same issue. I only have one HD channel (BBC) but notice that if pvrx2.exe has been running for a while (e.g. over a day) then more often than not the picture (on this channel only) is choppy. Oddly fine when the channel info is on screen, but goes choppy after it disappears. However if I restart the macinhe all is fine. Typically if I just restart pvrx2.exe it's also fine. I doubled my memory from 512Mb to 1G and I dont think it ever goes over 450Mb used, so not sure it's a memory leak. So no idea what's causing it. I can live with it once I've sorted out how to restart pvrx2.exe from the remote (I know it's easy to configure a button to start it, I've just not got round to it yet!).

Ah well I'm somewhat relieved I'm not the only one. =) Guess I'll just wait for the next version and restart every couple of days in the mean time.

Same here. Something is building up, which makes the HD channels choppy. Still I don't know where the problem is. At least it's good (?) to see I'm not the only one. Any chance that Windows XP SP3 will solve the problem???

I've turned all the auto update of XP off to stop it breaking anything! But would be interested to hear if SP3 gives any improvements. Bizarrely I've noticed that when the machine first starts up and pvrx2 runs from the startup group, the HD channel is choppy. However when I exit and restart the HD channel is fine. Even after several hours. I'm not sure if it does get worse over time or if it's either bad or good.... I keep restarting anyway as I've been tweaking all sorts, but am at a fairly stable point now so will try not to restart for a few days and see what happens.

I've just built a new machine and HD playback is always choppy for me. What are you guys using to achieve decent HD playback (when it works!) i.e. what codecs/settings etc?
