Hardware Hauppauge 350PVR PCI Card
USB-UIRT ‘Blaster’ (Drivers ver. 1.4)
Set-Top Box (STB)

Software Shut Down Expert ver. 5.03 (SDE)
Slimm GBPVR ver. 1.6.2866.23823
GBPVR ver. 1.1.5
IRCommand2 (IRC)

OS Windows XP
At a set time SDE brings the computer out of hibernation.
Slimm GBPVR running in the system tray with recurring programmes set to record.
IRC running.
IRC sends a signal, at a set time, to switch on the set-top box.
GBPVR then changes channels on the set-top box and records the programme, changing channels if required for any subsequent programmes.
At the end of the day IRC sends a signal, at a set time, to switch off the STB.
SDE puts the computer into hibernate.
Everything functions as required.

OS Windows Vista Home Premium
1. Vista doesn’t support hibernation.
2. SDE would not function as I required but found a programme, “Auto Power-on & Shut-down” (APO) from lifsoft.com.
3. USB-UIRT requires new drivers for Vista (ver. 20204)

At a set time APO brings the computer out of standby.
Slimm GBPVR running in the system tray with recurring programmes set to record.
IRC running.
IRC sends a signal, at a set time, to switch on the set-top box.
Problem: - GBPVR cannot send a signal to change channels but records.
Solution: - Using APO terminate IRC after switching on set-top box
GBPVR then changes channels on the set-top box and records the programme, changing channels if required for any subsequent programmes.
Problem: - At the end of the day IRC set to run but USB-UIRT fails to initiate.
Solution: - Using APO terminate GBPVR Recording service at the end of the day, it automatically restarts.
Two minutes later IRC set to run and switch off the STB
APO puts the computer into standby.

There seems to be a conflict between IRC and GBPVR over which program has control of USB-UIRT

All of this requires setting several timers in order to ensure that recordings can be made without sitting at the computer (especially when out of the home) and remembering to modify these timers if the recording window changes (18:00-11:00, 02:00-04:00 etc.). Am I missing something or can a solution be found to integrate these three programs?

Sent this problem to IRC, GBPVR and USB-UIRT Forums in the hope that someone has a solution.
