Recording Playback Too Wide

When I playback my recordings through the MVP, the picture is too wide for the screen. About 10% of the picture is lost on both sides. I have MVP players on both 16:9 and 4:3 tvs, and the problem seems to be on both. These are the aspect ratio amd mvp settings in my config.xml. Not sure what, if anything, I should change.

All help appreciated.

None of these aspect ratio settings do anything on the MVP. GB-PVR doesnt attempt any aspect ratio control on the MVP - it has its own built in logic for how it handle the aspect ratio. From memory, in the case of 16:9 video on a 4:3 screen it center cuts the picture.

I think I read the alternative mvpmc dongle does a better job than the Hauppauge one with this scenario, letterboxing the picture to include black bars at the top/bottom.

what about <MVP16x9Mode>false? what does it do?

It does nothing. That setting only applied to the old gbpvr.bin alternative dongle, which is no longer supplied with the app.

Sometimes a Media MVP will hiccup on starting a playback and change to an extra wide image. You need to cycle power (pull the plug) on the MVP to get it back to normal if that happens.

Thanks for your replies. Looks like I am stuck with very minor problem of picture being slightly too wide on BOTH 4:3 and 16:9 tv's. I can live with it.
