I don't think this is a gbpvr issue, but I have a problem playing dvb-s recordings on my MVP through gbpvr. I have some dvb-s recordings that I did on dvbdream. When I play them, the audio goes out of sync if I FF, pause or REW them. Sometimes I can get it back, othertimes not. I am just curious if anyone knows why this would be. My standard cable (pvr150) recordings are fine. Can this be a frame rate issue or would it be something else? It is 29.97 for the dream recordings, I don't know what it is for the 150 recordings.

Not a big issue, but I would love to know what is different about these mpeg2 recordings. I searched this forum and google, but still don't really have an idea.

There is a lot of timing information in MPEG files (presentation time stamps, decoding time stamps etc), which is pretty complex stuff, and its easy for a mux filter to get some of this wrong. If its wrong it can effect some players if they depend on that information being correct. Your PVR150 is probably doing a better job of producing this timing information than the mux filter used by dvbdream.

Thanks, I don't know if you can change the dream mux or not. I don't do it often anyway, I was more interested from a learning perspective. I guess I knew it was more complicated than just writing the file since it had to pull it out of the TS.

If it's a ts file and it is going to the mvp it goes through ffmpeg and if you cheat and name it mpg I think gbpvr and the Hauppauge dongle will have problems with the file especially if you try to navigate in the file.

Hi Martin~ No, the ts is muxed in dream and comes out as an mpeg. Also, I am using the mvpmc which seemed to work better, but still not great with these files. I could be that dream is cheating though. It just gives me more priority to get my dvbs back with gbpvr since I can use the ati mux.

Thanks

Hi soccerdad, I have this sync problem with my dvb-s recordings using the cyberlink mux. Its a realy pain in the arse but we put up with it. I found using the latest gbpvr and regularly defragmenting my hard drive helped.

"It just gives me more priority to get my dvbs back with gbpvr since I can use the ati mux." - What is the ati mux, and do you know where I can get it to try it?

Cheers.

It has been a while since I played with it here, but this link: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ht=ati+mux should get you the ati mux. It is used for recording in mpeg, not for transcoding from TS. See this thread. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ht=ati+mux

Good luck. Let us know if this helped your problem.

There is a new alternative for mvpmc users to try. sub has added in 1.2.9 an option to pass an mpeg-ts stream to the mvp which might help for SD content. Check the setting name in the config dont edit me file. It might not be something you want to keep but it might be helpful for finding out if the problem is in the source capture.
