Guys,

Q1. My understanding is that if you transcode a file from mpg to avi (and delete the mpg), you can watch the avi in gb without having to update the database as gb will play the avi if cant find the original mpg file. My question is that when you delete the recorded file using the gb gui, will it:
(a) delete the file record in the database and the avi file harddisk or;
(b) delete the file record in the database and leave the avi file on the harddisk as it does not match .mpg in the database. If it does leave the avi file on the harddisk, is there any solution to automatically remove the avi file.

Q2. Should I update the database to match the new file type when transcoding. If so, can some one provide me the "sqlite3" cmd lines to do this (for use with a batch file)?

Q3. If you use a program which creates extra files with extensions like .txt, .edl ;and you then delete record in the database using the gb gui, will it also delete these extra files. Is there any way of cleaning them out to prevent clutter & save space?

I found that when the recording service does one of it's housekeeping runs (I can't remember what triggers them off, but it is fairly regular) if it sees a missing MPG file and finds a AVI file of the same name, it updates the database with the AVI extension.

In config.xml is a line like

<DeleteAdditionalExtensions>srt,txt,log,d2a,edl,csv,bat,wme,vprj,logo.txt,dvbsub,smi</DeleteAdditionalExtensions>

which will delete same name files with different extensions when you delete the base file from the interface.
