QAM recordings have stutter, but not live TV

I have the same problem

My recordings stutter, using HVR1600 QAM recordings, so i would be interested if someone has some resolutions, the only thing for me i think it has something to do with the Mpeg decoder as they play fine on VLC and streaming to PCH through myihome. Only GBPVR and WMP have issues

If yours playback fine in VLC and on the PCH, then it sound like your is a playback problem, so try different decoders etc.

Something I noticed with the HVR1600 that I never saw with the PVR250 is that it appears to be more sensitive to CPU load.

I'm not sure what the breaking point is, but if I have enough CPU load while recording, the resulting files are a bit short time-wise, and playback like they're being fast forwarded.

Presumably something's dropping frames, that's what it looks like at least.

I used to run a post-process script that ran ffmpeg to transcode the mpeg files to xvid. I switched to letting gbpvr do this as a low priority task to address the problem.

Now, if I could only get digital recording/transcoding to work Maybe the new release with TS improvements will work.

I've tried various mux options but I can't find any that will allow me to convert the resulting file down to a more manageable xvid. It's usually fine for a few seconds, then I lose either audio or video in the output.
